I mean being redesigned due to faults with the original design, like the engine control relays, or the crank sensor wiring, this may just be me, but I'm kinda fed up with the nice man behind the parts desk telling me the part I require is a redesign and that I should change all of them etc etc
You can get some special tape for doing this type of thing, It's fine so can be layed in most shapes and doesn't alloy the paint to seep under it, i've the paint chap my dad uses using it for some pretty detailed work, otherwise you thought of actually taping the border on? Motorboke shops...
No worries, I have ODBII but it's only the basic KTEC one that requires the codes to be looked up, I know what situation you're in though, when mine was playing up I would have loved a working Clio to swap parts with to identify the faulty part lol
IMO Renault spent more on redesigning parts than they did actually designing them in the first place, can anyone think of a RS part that hasn't been superseeded/redesigned/recalled or more to the point, hasn't got a genuine problem with it?
I've heard the 3rd gear crunch is quite common, and as...
Have you changed the Lambda sensor? I'd start with that and as mentioned the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Between these two they control the fuelling to the engine, so can cause missfires or bad idling, failing this, check all wires. It's a renault, so that WILL have corroded somewhere
Just noticed you're in Leeds pal, so am i, if you wanna meet sometime and can try swapping a few things let me know, ie relays, compare wiring etc etc, cos I have just had this problem, but mine is PH2
The engine control relays are prone to playing up on the 172's, I've just had some problems, have you checked;
Relays
Earth for the ECU
The wires beneath the fusebox (again prone for rotting)
The wiring going into the ECU
Check for them being green and corroded
Also if you decide you need a...
WD40 on them and then try a spanner, but don't really go to town with it, don't want to knacker the valve, there may also be a little tiny grub srew on one side
Isn't that the s**t you get on your teeth lol?
But yeah, do it yourself, I used Renault 5w/40 in mine, cost me £15 from dealer, £9 for some fortek engine flush off here and £4:03 for a filter, and I know it was all done right :)
Thing with kwik fit and the like, they'll use what's cheap for...
I'm guessing you could do, one thing I have been told though, is you need to be careful how you connect the wires together due to the resistance being a major factor in the electrics, this could be wrong though so could someone confirm? It really isn't that hard to just replace the wires, the...
I sholdn't be fucked, maybe just overheated, let it cool down etc and check all the wires, make sure speaker wire isn't causing a short, check the wiring into your sub as well as the amp too
I had this problem when putting 182 seats in my 172 cup, I just took all the wires out the cup seats and swapped them with the 182 wires, it's not hard and it all works bar the seat bealt pretensioner, which I'm informed doesn't work on many clio's either lol
