Kewl I'm a strong(ish) lad and can handle a car without PAS, I had two previous Clio's (For my sins) without it.
But yeah bottom line is if it does go tits up then it's time to move on and invest in something decent as mines quite old now (1996)
Sh*t f**king car can't afford to feed its addiction of new costly parts.
The pump does make a shhh.. noise when turning left or right at stationary which can be heard if you stand by the bonnet.
Okay LOL I thought I've had it all from the Clio's I've owned but a new problem has occured or so I think.
Sometimes the steering feels a lot heavier than others, I mean it will be nice and light at one point and heavy the next on the same type surface of road.
I've just had new pads...
Very worrying how the previous owner could let it get like that but as you know some garages will overlook it; if they're rushed for time.
Gawd knows what other horrors await me when I service it.
So much better though cannot begin to describe how much of a confidence boost it is knowing you...
Just changed my front pads and fluid (which was black)
Car brakes soooo much better, however the brakes smell like they're burning is this because they're brand new?
Done about 20miles with the new pads on, took a good 5 miles before I really felt anything but they're so sharp now...
I do waterless cleaning, just rub the car down with a shammy makes it just like I've washed it.
Wouldn't really advise it on anything really nice obviously as there is always a risk of a bit of shlt getting caught and scratching the paint.
...Do they wear out as quick as pads, I whipped my front wheel off today and the pads are pretty much non existant.
Got some new pads from Halfords, £13.99 for the front and some Castrol Dot4 fluid for £10.
Cheers mate yeah he's going to try the other hub on it, if not we're going to buy a bearing from Halfrauds and get it pressed at a local.
Do you think if the hub fits it fits, and no damage can do done having a 1.2 one it on there?
I might have found the dodgy bearing..
I've jacked each wheel up twice and felt for play by pulling it none at all.
Well I've jacked the front two up again and spun them, the right one made a deeper noise tbh I've forgotten how to describe it now but the left one was basically silent the...
Thats exactly what he said to me, about taking it to a local garage and getting them to use a press if the hub doeesn't fit.
Also found something else out which is rather worrying to say the least
If I put my handbrake on full; go to the rear of the car and rock either one of the back...
Okay lads, I've got a dodgy bearing somewhere on my 1.4
I was wondering would the hub from a 1.2 fit on it?
Failing that is the rear and front wheel bearings diffrent sizes as I don't know which bearing is knackard
Also, what fluid do you recommend, a mate is coming down on Friday to sort...
I need a bearing replacing in my Clio.
When I'm going straight or right it's fine but if I go above 20 and point the steering wheel anything past (Anti clockwise) the 10:00 position I get a low pitched rumble/vibrating feeling.
I did take it to a garage they fiddled with the front wheels...
Cheers mate they'll be pretty chuffed about that he should in theroy have 8 yrs ncb but some twonk in a Austin hit him and drove off the car (Austin) was stolen.
IMHO if your powering the speakers from the HU then there isn't a lot of point shelling out on 6x9's not that I would recommend them for SQ anyway even if you where powering them from an AMP.
I got a 12" JBL sub cheap and cheerfull cost me £50 and £30 for the box and they do put out good for...
Okey people heres a situation for you.
My Dad currently has four years NCB.
He has some tonk Mitshibishi which he uses for weekend driving and a run about Rover which he uses for work (As it's a dodgy place to work as the cars are always getting knocked by the lorries.
Anyway the Rover...
I'd hardly call the monkeys down at Halfords or whever Pro's.
And if anyone fcuks up installing a headunit they shouldn't be let loose near an ICE system to start with.
He's tryin to rip you off mate, I'd only want a zinger tower meal
lol j/k
Serously whoever quoted you £500 is a mug, I fitted my JBL package and JVC head myself just simple Unskilled Darren, in 1hr and 20mins precise and I could have done it quicker if I wanted but as I used top quality...
It's the 1.4.
Took it back to the garage today and you guessed it I couldn't show them the squeal bloody typical does it pretty much every full lock and when i take the thing in to the garage it shuts up, anyway they tightend the belt up a little and it hasn't done it since probably know for...
Okay I've got a squeal which only occurs on full lock I'm guessing it's the power steering belt am I right?
Heres the irony, PAS belt was fine but my fan belt was screaching like mad, took it to Hi-Q and they said they'll replace the fan belt they also advised I do the PAS belt as it's...
Note to mods, I didn't know where this topic best to go as I don't know where the bloody rattle is.
I've got a Clio 1.4 RT Mk1 Phase 2, With Electric sunroof.
This is a general question my Clio has been making a gawd awful rattle like theres a couple of ball bearings loose somewhere anyway...
Yeah just whip the induction kit off at the yard they probably won't even care (The yard) just lucky he's declared his zaust etc.. as he might look a bit funny with one sticking out his bag after visiting his car to get his credit card or however he blaggs it.
Sorted, after reading storys of peoples sun roof I took the rubber seal off around the inside of the sunroof and put my hand down between it and the roof lining managed to get a loose nut out which was causing it.
Now totally off topic, anyone know anything good for removing blood my roof...
