I'd recomend the Millers 5-40 they also a do a diesel specific one I've got to go in my car this weekend to give a try.
But there not cheap oild but they stand up to some abuse 120 degrees most oils break up. Milers is good for 150 degreesor so.
Dog bone mount sounds like it worn I'd bet your gearstick moves loads as well when you accelerate and brake.
TRacking needs checking any decinet garge can do it its not difficult back street smller places are ofgten better than a big garage at doing it.
if you want one for the proper use get it welded in by someone who knows what there doing ie a racing place.
If you want it for looks though any decient welding place can do it.
It helps reduce restriction so it won't have any negative power effects.
Yep the top and bottom bits need doing the bottom doesn't need much work the top is the one where time needs spending. BenR etc often have a exchange set so he sells your his for a price and you get so much of the money...
Expensive £150 or so I think no one ever buy them patern parts are cheaper.
Life span well depends on the driving short trips kills them long drives are fine lat almost forever.
Transplant IMO shouldn't lower th value it might not add but it won't lower it.
Throttle body won't work like your suggesting. Piper regrind cams are cheap but not the best ever but there only £150 or so I think.
