lowered centre of gravity, resulting in better handling
although i cant see a clio roof weighing too much, and what you save on roof weight will be counteracted by the weight of the cage you need to fit to brace the roof from collapsing
afaik its for locking the cam pullys
cheers lads, anything to say for the waterpump?
and does anyone know if thats the right tensioner for the 16v/williams aux belt?
Just priced up all the bits i need there over on eurocarparts.com, and its working out a fair bit cheaper than with gsf, but i'm just cautious of the brands..
Contitech timing belt kit...
Lads i left my car in my mates yard the other day, and they had lads in painting the sheds while my car was there. I've only noticed little tiny black specks all over the body and windows today:eek:
Whats the best way to get this off? Clay bar? Which one?
Just rang my local gsf to get prices on the following parts for my ph1 172:

haha cheers man, it didn't turn out perfect IMO, but thats just cos i'm a picky b*stard, it's as perfect as can be expected from doing it in your front garden with rattle cans haha.

Havn't updated this in a while now, and i'm kinda bored so thought i'd add a few bits.
Just waiting to add a coat or 2 of laquer to the roof before its full finished. It actually turned out glossier than i'd expected, which looks kinda cool.
Still havn't fitted my new brakes and...
I know i had a thread up about this a while back ,and picked burp's brains about the cheapest way to go about removing the air conditioning from my ph1 172. I am about to order all the stuff i need to do a cam and aux belt change, which has got me looking for a way of removing the air con again...
I got it checked out only to find it was spot on, but he did mention track rod ends give trouble in renaults and mumbled something about mine possibly needing replacement..
Are all renault track rod ends the same, or do they vary from model to model?
Would appreciate if someone could tell me...
All tyres are only a few weeks old, i'll start with track rod ends and see if the problem persists.
Where is the best place to get them? Is it only renault dealers that stock them?
Have recently fitted a set of brand new OEM shocks with eibach sportline springs, but find the handling to be quite vague with the car tramlining/torque steering on the road quite a bit.
What would be the main culprits of this? Topmounts? Track rod ends? Ball joints?
Have done a quick search...
i drove my 172 for almost 2 months without spigot rings and it was grand. just take it handy enough when driving around, and make sure your wheel studs are tight fairly regularly
It would probably be hard to find an alpine unit within your budget with ipod compatability, unless you were going for a second hand one, the cheapest pioneer one i've found with ipod compatability was 230 euro, but even at that you have to buy another interface separately

Got up early on tuesday morning, bought 3 scotch pads and 3 cans of satin black paint and got to work on doing this..
Some of ya may think i was nuts to do it in myself, but my roof was in rough enough condition as it was, so i wasn't too bothered if i made a hames of it. After a...
Cheers lads, halfords paint codes are useless!
gave them the paint code, they mixed a solid colour, compared it to the car and it was way off.
know now never to use them again:nono:
What colour is my car?
The paint code tells me its MV647-Grey, but thats not a metallic colour and my car definitely has metallic paint. Is it iceberg silver??

Have been looking around on different forums, and have decided i'm going to spray the roof, spoiler and mirror caps on my clio gloss black to tie in with my alloys that i have already sprayed satin black.

5000 euro for a mechanically sound ph1 172 is a really good price over here, as they are as rare as hens teeth, and vehicle registration tax is 980 euro on top of the price of the car.
I would like to put the money into my own car and get it resprayed, but unfortunately summer work seems to be...
I've had my ph1 172 clio over 4 months now, and its officially the longest i've owned a car...YAY:)
I've always wanted one, and although it was a little rough when i first got it, i was happy with my purchase.
I went about fixing the little bits that were wrong with it, uprating them for...

your wishbones are connected to the subframe, which are connected to your hubs, which are connected to your shock absorbers, which are connected to your car. undo your strut top mounts and you should be able to drop the subframe. also, your driveshafts are connected to your hubs, but these...
