i had my 106 mot'ed that had an engine conversion, went from a 1.4 8v to a 1.6 16v. was still registered as a 1.4 and went straight through the MOT, no questions asked, in fact it went to 2 garages as it failed at the 1st because it didnt have a cat.
what is the spec of the pinto? is it tuned? they aint very powerfull as standard, altho his car will weigh less than yours.
dnt forget to check your rear tyre pressure too, and as said dnt lower the front tyres too much. strip out as much as you can, spare wheel, seats etc
then u need to...
lol i was on about the super unleaded fuel, isnt it 98 ron, normal is only 95. cool blue is racing fuel isnt it. imo bit over the top to use on a std 172, wont be getting the most from it.
higher octane fuel will give more power but nothing you will notice.
easiest way to increase power to weight ratio is to strip the car.
what car does you mate have
i have a similar problem to you but iam 22 and dont have any no claims. hopefully i will be buying a cup very soon and will insure it tpft, will be around £190 per month.
thanks mate. i have had a quick search but takes ages to find what u want lol
when does the aux belt need changing? iam sure i read that it has to be done before the cam belt
Hi, after looking at many different cars i have decided to buy a 172 cup. iam a newbie to clios so i dont know what to look for when buying one.
What are the main things (apart from the obvious) i should look for?
i have around 5k and want a standard one if poss.
What are the service intervals...
i agree, i wasnt slagging the vtec off at all, i love a high revving screamer, i was going to buy a itr dc2! but other peaple have different taste, and prefer a car with more low end grunt, these are the ones that dont like the vtec.
honda make great engines imo, but i can see what u mean, its either all or nothing. the vtec can be set to come in earlier, all it does is change to a different cam profile. and engine with plenty of low down grunt is more pleasurable to drive on the road tho
yep, when running long duration cams with a plenum and single tb you will get charge robbing and it will have an erratic idle. thats the joy of fitting itb's, will idle like a kitten lol and will gain loads of midrange. IMO they are worth it just for the noise:D
PMSL :D
if u are going to run standalone then u need to be spending upto 1k alone for the ecu and loom, maybe more depending on what one you go for.
i paid £550 for my kms ecu and wideband lambda for my 106, but i would go for a better ecu for a clio.
i most likely will do over the weekend. is there anything i should look at in particular with the 172's?
from what i can see it looks great, but iam a newbie to clio's
