    Where to clean fuel injectors?

The Saga continues. I get two injectors from Mr injector, although I am not 100% happy with them, there are some little spots of rust on the pintels which suggests to me they have been hanging around for ages and/or the pintels have not been renewed, the seals look used too. They dont come with...

    Where to clean fuel injectors?

I just ordered 2 injectors from Mr. Injector for £25 each. Injectortune had actually sent me an email saying they dont have replacement injectors in stock but will refund me for servicing of 2 of the injectors so that is very good service from them.

    Where to clean fuel injectors?

I got my injectors back this morning and the faulty injector had a knackered solenoid so can't be fixed by cleaning, apparently one of the others has a solenoid on the way out too. So I am in the market for 2 (or maybe 4) injectors if anybody has any or knows where to buy some then please let me...

    Where to clean fuel injectors?

So after being a complete idiot and taking my wiring loom to pieces I eventually found that the real reason my clio is running on 3 cylinders is probably a clogged fuel injector. So the injectors are off the car and I was thinking of using an injector cleaning by post service. Does anybody...

What paint do you guys paint your plenums with?

Ah, I now guess the scuttle the plastic bit around the wipers? I'd only take that off if you get stuck. If I had too I would free the scuttle so it can move a bit but not take off the wipers - I don't think removing the wipers is an easy job - I had to resort to using a slide hammer when I did that!

Do you need an oil filter tool?

Mr Righty has never let me down :-D I really would replace it every time (should cost ~50p from a local motor spares/factor). I tried to script before and got an annoying drip-drip.

Do you need an oil filter tool?

If you can't undo with one hand then use two :) The screwdriver method works but do it towards the end or you risk damaging the spindle it threads onto.

What paint do you guys paint your plenums with?

TBH I dont know what the scuttle is? I thought a scuttle was something for storing coal. My runners/plenum unit is plastic, yours looks a lot better, bet it flows better too. The whole plenum should just lift out when you undo the bolts, and unclip any wires etc attached. If you dont have quite...

What paint do you guys paint your plenums with?

I can't see your pic at work, but I have the K4M and the plenum unbolts as you describe. The bolts on the runners etc had star drive heads but I found a 12 tooth metric socket fitted them no problem.

Who runs decat? What and why?

Is it totally impossible for a car to pass MOT with a de-cat? I had a 1990 Suzuki Swift GTi which never had a CAT, I tweaking the fueling/timing in with a colourtune and it passed emission test by a large margin (although I think because it was an older car the pass level was not so stringent?)...

    172 Wheel bolts.

+1 Get them from Ebay, I already had some good locking bolts so I just got 12 new bolts which cost about £1 each. I actually got 17mm head bolts, taped the key for my locking bolts into the 19mm socket of my tyre iron and flip it over to the 17mm socket for the other bolts - much quicker/easier...

    Fookin Microsfot!

Haven't they just brought out a new need for speed? I got the Need for Speed shift and was suprised at how good the physics was after all the previous rubbish NFS releases. I Poop myself trying to do a clean lap around the Nord.

    Fookin Microsfot!

If you need just a short HDMI cable then I got a 0.6m one from Argos for something like £4.99 and it works perfectly. You can easily spend a few checking out the demos :D

200 Side lights out....fuse keeps blowing

Thats it, one of those arm's is +ve and the other is -ve. If they touch then in effect you are bypassing the LED and shorting your battery to the chassis (through the fuse). So I'd probably make a spacer up using some plastic (in the past I have used bits of biro pens cut to size) or PVC tape...

New TV - Can this be beaten?

Sorry if I sounded harsh with what I said - just wanted to share what I thought after a bit of mental arthmatic. I f I just look at a single purchase then the warranty does look attractive prospect at covering risk. However, when I look at the bigger picture and consider all the electronics...

New TV - Can this be beaten?

I wouldn't pay that. If you consider the strong depreciation of electronics you only get payback if more than 1 in 5 of your electronics purchases breaks outside of the standard manufacture warranty.

New TV - Can this be beaten?

I bought my TV about a year ago. When I looked around I thought the colours on the LG LCD's were no good at all - all washed out. I got a Samsung 40B550 and the colours are ace and plays video from a flash drive if you hack the firmware. The other samsungs with higher refresh rate are now more...

200 Side lights out....fuse keeps blowing

If you are blowing fuses like that it indicates that somewhere your positive wire is shorting to the earth/chassis. I am surprised it is doing it on a new car, usually it is because the insultation has worn through.

    recommend me some front tyres!

Just done a bunch of reading on tyres as i am looking to buy new fronts too. Just thought I'd share that everything I read indicates the Hankooks are win-win on price and performance. As discussed the mileage is unknown but my bet is they will be like the P-zero nero and last ~10k miles (i.e...

    Audiophiles.

I am afraid you are bringing out the pendant in me. Dedicated spur - it makes some sense removing other sources of noise and power spikes from the local loop. Although a good filter could probably remove this just as well. Mains Reconstructor - what is that? Is it some kind of fancy filter...

Michelin PE2 (exalto 2's) are no longer being made!!!!

2nd that - all I can say is I am running Pzero's front and Proxies rear and find they hold the road really well, granted I can't push them as much as a 172. There was some test done recently where Pzero's came top of the bunch and they commented that they had improved wince the last test, so...

Changing Anti Roll Bar Bushes, How I Did It

This is almost the method I just used (wish I read this first!), my bushes were in good condition so I wanted to preserve them. I freed up the centre bush by jacking up the lower wishbone slightly - this also takes takes the sheer force of the bolt making it easier to remove. I drove the...

    Tracking Prices????

Rob, Plz let us know if you do find a decent place in London. I need to do the job soon (after I have put the car together again), as the adjustable camber add an extra variable I want to make sure it is a good place that does it. Likewise if I find a good place i will let you know.

Michelin PE2 (exalto 2's) are no longer being made!!!!

Blackcircles.com is still listing PE2, if you phone around then somewhere should have stock. Or if another tyre is quite worn then you could get a pair of P zero nero (cheaper per corner). Ebay often has lots of cheap part worns for sale, and there are other sources of part worns too.

    Yay - upgrades

I wish I had an impact gun. I snapped my ba4 socket I was using to hold a hex bit. This let the strut swivel round and pull the driveshaft out of the tranny - gearbox oil everywhere. Just managed to find my proper 14mm drive hex bits, hopefully those will work, but will reassample everything...

    Yay - upgrades

I hope your fitment is going well. Getting the bushings out of the suspension arms is an arse. Powerflex website suggests to drill a hole through the rubber - what a load of crap, I found it best to drill about 12 holes on one side of the bushing, so the aluminium core can be hammered out, then...

    Yay - upgrades

I was offered £30 of the Konis and accepted that - to the retailers credit they responded to me quickly. Hit a bit of a dead stop fitting these things as I dont have a deep recess box spanner to get the strut top nut off, tried a couple of places near me and no-body seems to sell one either! I...

    Audiophiles.

Almost evey time I am in Dixons (not very often) there is some guy trying to sell a fantastically expensive HDMI cable to a customer and justifying the price tag with a load of BS - makes me want to punch them in the face. My HDMI cable was £2.99 from Argos and it works fine, WHY can't people...

    Yay - upgrades

THanks for the advice - I did email the retailer and await their response. Thing is I don't want to send them back as I want to get them on the car before MOT before end of the month. Besides being bashed around, chipped and dented - I am surprised at the quality of finish. They are only STR.T...
