geddes, shooting in manual mode - bring your iso right down to 100, also bring your aperture down to around f/5.6. a 30 second shutter speed is wheeey too long during the daylight with no ND filters. so speed the shutter speed right up until you can see images on your lcd, see how that goes...
i was the same mate. i think everyone is to begin with, but unfortunately its just practice practice practice which is key. better equipment does help in some aspects, but if i wasn't trying to make money from my work id easily sell up my 5dii buy a body half the price as the 5d wouldn't be...
Defo keep the 550 for now mate. Everyone thinks the same - upgrading the camera will improve pictures and make them a better photographer, unfortunately this isn't the case. But I agree on upgrading your lens's is the way to go first before upgrading the body. work on composition, Composition...

Roll on Tuesday, just purchased a 15" MacBook Pro so will be able to edit all my photographs properly on LR and PS :D beats using snapseed lol
Keep it Ben, hopefully soon you'll have the urge to use it a lot more. Sometimes the photography mojo can be hit & miss and I think it's the latter at the mo ;) but itl come back!
Aaron I think you should sell yours though.. It's £500 towards a nice tidy L series lens!
Hopefully the forum...
