    clio valver MISSFIRING..why?? !!!

PFC mag this month lists most common misfire as MAP sensor or throttle body iirc. Although you obviously have a water ingress problem so may not be as applicable.

    Mk1 Bits and Pieces

My Mk1 Clio goes on Friday and when valued for p/x it had various bits missing because I took them off and never refitted yet. Is there any interest in morette headlights, afterburner style tail-lights and colour coded door trims and handles (432 blue) for these or should I shove all the crap...

    Best colour for the R27

I think the pics make it look better than it will in real life. I reckon white with black wheels for this year, maybe brown with silver wheels next.

    Pulling to the left

If it goes left then that caliper is doing more work. Look at the offside. Do they have sliding calipers - probably - in which case they're probably both full of rust and sh1t.

    Another young vs old thread!!!

My mate got an early one with the lower ratios and said that he could understand why people wanted longer gearing if they didn't get the stereo upgrade:D. I've had a couple of cars where 4,000+rpm is the norm for a motorway cruise and don't see why it's a problem. I reckon it's a nice ride but...

    Window Slipping ??? (Pics)

Sounds like b0ll0cks from the women. Try a different dealership or a different day. They should be able to look it up from the computer and find it - it's all exploded drawings and 'the bit that fits on the back of the glass' should be easy to spot! If not why not get one of a scrapper? There...

Will offset 35 fit my dynamique?

Incorrect: The lower the number the more the wheel will come out towards the arch. et35 will move the wheel 5mm further out than et40. If the wheel is wider than existing i.e. 6.5J instad of 6J then a lower offset is better because the extra width will be more on the outside and so less likely...

    Welded Steering Column

I'm sure I've seen this as a thread but cannot remember where - have you searched in the steering and suspension section? Haynes covers the replacement and it's not listed as a difficult job (2 spanners). However I've not seen it done so that could be b0ll0cks

Where to get a 1/8"NPT Oil pressure sender ?

Can't you just solder the wire on? NPT is an american standard - you might have to import as the standard here is BSPT and I'm pretty sure they're incompatible. I assume you already asked if the supplier/importer/manufacturer of the parts do spares?

    1.4 Maxim Head Gasket Mission

I always use slip pliers for disconnecting the lower coolant hose - works a treat. Some people reckon taking the temperature switch out helps. It's on the right hand side about half way down with wires coming out of it.

    16v Questions!

Got white wheels on my Monaco blue and they look well together. Shame that one has a slight buckle and the t*ats that changed the front tyres scuffed the rims :(

Lowering - Springs or Kit? and Make?

If I were lowering my car I'd put new dampers on anyway. Is it much better to go with a kit than just lowering springs. What make would be best. It's for a Mk1. Anyone know if the 1.8 8v needs a different set than the generic mk1 parts like the valver? thnx.

    Replacement Wheel

I'm sure Renault will sell you just one, but expect to pay through the nose for it. Better to come across one on here or eBay, or even salvage - there's enough bent ones now!

    Car not starting

I'd look in the fuel tank under the rear seat.

    Exhaust hanging low

Have one of these too - although a yr older. There are no mounts on the CAT, it's a real short section. CAT sits high between the seats in that recess of the floorpan but the front box does hang out from the rest about half it's height. There's no hangers on the system except the section with...

    Hmm

First thing to do is find out where it leaks. Clean it all down. Start it up and see where oil comes out first.

^ +1 This car is 4.5 yrs old - 60k is going to be average.

Renault Clio S Maxim 1.4 Writeoff prices?

'97 is ph3. I've seen RSis for sale at dealers over the £1k but I wouldn't expect more than £600 for mine so your maxim payment is probably only several hundred even in good condition.

Clunking and Grinding Noise Mk1 Ph3 RSi

Anybody? What to go after next to sort the clunking?

    172 ph1. 130k - too many miles?

That was kind of my thoughts but I didn't 'know'. There don't seem to be many about with that kind of mileage to gauge price on. My current car hass less than that and has a complete history except the initial invoice but it's not that good after nine months :(

    172 ph1. 130k - too many miles?

I've seen the above for sale. How many miles is too many for a used one, even with service history, to have a useful life? Price is a bit below £3k. Opinions/Experiences welcomed please.

Clunking and Grinding Noise Mk1 Ph3 RSi

Hi, Am new so please be kind. This noise only happens on the one side (passenger) from what I can tell. There is a clunk when the car sits into a right hander at anything like normal speeds, and another slightly different clunk as it emerges from the corner. The steering is tight going left...

Squeak from the back of the car (and other assorted squeaks)

If the timing belt is new it may have a noise for a week or so until it settles. Better to be on the tight side than skip and smash your valves.
