It's not a hard job dropping the box out, just time consuming really... Access is tight on a few bits that need to come off.
As for the wife.... I know the feeling sometimes lol.
I've been searching for the photo I took of it but can't find it anywhere sadly.
It wasn't completely stripped no, the teeth were extremely worn. Had all gone to almost a half moon shape rather then triangle if that makes sense.
Yeah it was the offside shaft. If you jack up that wheel and turn it you'll hear a strange clanking/ grinding noise and feel roughness.
Also if you pop it in first gear with the engine running with that wheel up in the air it may start to rotate as there is no resistance on it. But it will very...
Are you putting 12v to the trigger on the starter solenoid or onto the main positive feed coming down from the battery?
Also which one are you getting 12v out when tying to crank? Both?
Stupid but have you checked all your fuses, inside and outside the car?
If you have a new starter fitted...
I had this exact same problem not long after getting my 182, exact symptoms you are describing.
In the end once we got it jacked up and had a proper look it wasn't the box. It was the splined coupling that joins one of the drive shafts to the gearbox. New splined sleeve was about twenty quid...
Hey,
Doing the cambelt on my 182 - done a few now but not come across this before.
Which kit do I need? My car is a 54 plate ff 182.
Never came across this issue as have always ordered reanult genuine before....
A point in the right direction would be helpful as Im currently lost.
I had a rover 45 - paid 130 quid for it... Put 50k on it in 18 months. Never laid a spanner on it apart from using a baked bean tin to repair a 'slight' blow in the exhaust.
It was a shed. Everyone I know took the piss by calling it Gilbert...
The drivers window didn't work without falling off...
Try putting a jump lead from engine to the neg terminal. If that fixes it then you got an earth issue.
If that fails.
Run a test lead from 12v and touch the trigger on the starter solenoid. If it spins then you probably have a problem somewhere on that circuit.
I'm a mobile mechanic and two of us did my 182 on a driveway using Jack and stands.
We took the subframe out completely as was easier at the time but I've done 1.2 clios with the sframe just dropped one side and box moved to allow access to the clutch. Not tried on a rs mind.
My 182 has a yozza (on there when I brought it) it does put a smile on my face when the time is right as it is quite loud (cat still in, have decat but can't bring myself to fit it lol).
I keep contenplating a swap to a scorpion or something a bit quieter..
Am I wrong in thinking that you can power an injector by putting 12v directly to it? Or is that where the injector tester comes into play? do they run at a much lower voltage?
Hey guys!
after a rough guide price on a clio! - Basically I've recently acquired a 1.2 clio.
1999 on a T Plate,
68K on the clocks
Belts done at 56k (last year)
New clutch going in this weekend (slipping - hence the acquisition)
Red
All good tyres and over all a pretty clean car.
service...
