nice mate how did you go about a bulkhead between engine and front?
what thichness?
is it bolted or is it welded?
any help great thanks

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

steve, the frame was welded and bolted to the car use same angle iron, then we used 3mm alloy sheeting to make the actual bulk head..i also made and engine top cover as the head it give of is unreal!!! imo you should seriously consider this too.....

if you want any more ideas or need advise, dont hesitate to give us a pm pal......love projects like this

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

Are you planning to seal off the new engine bay?
Only reason i ask is that if you drive the thing in the rain it'll surely fill the car up with water and won't be much fun for you in the front!

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

Thats one big tail pipe. What is the clearance between the end of the pipe and the wheel? Looks rather close.
looks closer than it really is trust me:)
its only bits of 3"pipe from my old system welded together:)
dint cost a penny;)
im gonna have fuel tank and pump by next wkd!
then sunday night im gonna start the engine up!
its gonna be load!really loud!
a shortvid will be applied!;)

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

bet it was alot of work involved? was it rear engined to start wiv? how come u got rid?(apart from buying a 400bhp clio lol)

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

no it started off as 1.1 campus!!!... my mate scoff built back in 2000 but it never got used back then i was c1j powered...

i basicly borght it bk in jan '06 and me n scoff did a full restoration on it that took us 18months to complete, we also made the b18 volvo engine fit, we then did the internals, and put a big gt28rs turbo on it, all that wad done, then we fitted the addaptronic standone management and mapped it to 22 psi of boost (manifold) with got us just over 260hp....as you can ammagine, it was insane ''rwd'' fun........sold it purely to fund the clio

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

my mate scoff orginally built the car bk in ''99-00 we rebuilt it again 18 months ago

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

who knows mybe this clio will be at fcs next year lol
i started this project back in aug 07!
not bad so far
just funding,so i need to work 70 hours a week and work on car nights on weekends!
so far iv done all the work myself too!
exept exhaust helped by my mate white van man

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

keep going stevo. The buzz from getting it in a mag and a few car shows will be worth the graft, honestly.

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

do you think its really worth a mag feature?
i want it al complete and tidy first.
and cleaned and really shinny for fcs!
my aim is french car show now!
it was november 18th 07 but i jacked my job in and fell out with my bank manager for a while lol.
but im back full on track now!
this cars gointg to be mental!
keep looking for updates!

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

ive just had a PFC shoot, they loved it as it was different to any other clio, my idea was that from the offset.

Your car is definately different, as long as it looks the part ie: lowered on some motorsport wheels and a full cage and buckets it would walk a mag feature on uniqueness alone.

Keep going, throw all your money at it to get it ready for the next show season, i imagine it will cause a stir if you do it to a good standard.

so just push on as i have been;)
not that much really left to do!
will be a few vids of the first attempt of start up;)
loud!
will make it more silent later:)
i have buckets but they are s**t really.

Re: 50% complete 172RWD!

depends which buckets you have. Ive sat in them all.

Sparco and Recaro are the best ones.

Cobras and Corbeau are made of cheaper materials for me.

I would push on, i think it will be immense. Make sure you do it to a good standard, then watch the crowds flock at the shows.
