So... tracks are back open and that can only mean one thing!! Time to book as many as I can for 2021!

first of all, I needed to drag it out of storage. So tightened the straps, checked the pressures on the trailer tyres and dragged it back to my house.

I then loaded up the van with the following bits;

new wheels
New tyres
New seats
New subframes
KTec induction kit
2 new driveshafts (nothing wrong with the old ones but managed to locate two new ones so why not!)
It’s also having new oil/filter and gearbox oil change.

next day booked is the 26th April at Combe and I honestly CANNOT WAIT!!! 💪🏽

So...

New wheels, new tyres, new seats, an oil and filter change, gearbox oil change (this gear oil was only 2 days old but as the car had been sat for 10 years I thought it best to do another change to make sure all the old s**t is out) new CV boots and a bit of ‘that’ll do’ on the wheel alignment and camber. There is literally nobody local to do it and it’s infuriating.

all cleaned and ready for Castle Combe this coming Monday. Looking forward to trying the MRF tyres as I feel the previous NS2R’s were the only part slowing me down. Fantastic value for money and stupidly predictable grip, I really rate them, but it’s about time I actually made an effort to go round quickly now instead of dicking about. 😂

CANNOT WAIT! 😁😁😁

Isn’t Mr. Cook local? Sure they can help out a fellow ginger with alignment.

Looks bloody beautiful. Get out there and get using it!

They did my VXR (and did a great job!) but it’s half a day off work absolute minimum by the time I get all the way over there, have it done, then come back again.
Just wish there was someone a lot closer.

Fair enough, with the hassle I’ve had in the past it’s worth it going further to get it right first time though.
Agree, 100%.
The issue is though, this car hasn’t moved for 12 years. Whilst it works perfectly *touch wood* I want to change and upgrade stuff and making repeated trips is too time consuming.

Pics/vids
Sadly I have none. The go pro mount in my car got damaged last week and I’ve not got round to replacing it. And my mate in the MX5 had his mounted up high to try and get some good footage but the wind noise on the videos is horrendous. 🤦‍♂️😂

Here is a brief video of the day - my mate in the MX5 mounted the camera in a different place as it’s more secure but sadly it pics up a load of wind noise, so that will be sorted for next time.
I’ve just ordered a new mount too so I’ll have some footage next time too.
Hopefully this video shows how quick the clio is. The MX5 is running the BBR 225 package and revs for days. My clio is a standard 172 but weighs a lot less.

anyway, here it is; (turn the sound off ffs!)

Lol, no sideways fun and giggles now, Sam is it in the mx, engaging concentration face as realised clio is better and he's made wrong track car choice 🤣

But everything else is correct. 😂

we came in and he said “I literally gave that everything. I couldn’t go any faster trying to keep up”

I’ve a feeling he won’t be doing track days much longer. He seems to have lost the love for it.

Managed Castle Combe on Monday just gone. Was a great day!
Went out and did a few ‘tepid’ laps to clean up the brakes and tyres, came in and adjusted the pressures, then proceeded to what felt like a million laps, it was empty there!
Car was faultless again, nobody believes it’s a standard engine (managed to lose a proper racing driver in a track prepped 182 in less than a lap! 😂) and I’m just loving being out in it. As much as possible!

here’s some pics from the tracks photographer;

(I’ve got 60 but I won’t bore you with them all)

You'll need a new track friend soon. ;)
