178,000 mile builders van.

So I'm sat here waiting for someone and decided to show off some of my work...

I bought this van as aside from being caked in cement and mud, it is proper straight. No dents, and under the dirt, in very very good condition!

Sadly I never meant to clean it today, I just got carried away after cleaning the engine bay but it resulted in doing the works, so I never got any before pics. As you can imagine, at 178k doing building work, it was very dirty.

So, Ply lining all pulled out, back of the van cleaned, all ply lining back in, machine polished (paint was proper flat!!) and then cleaned thoroughly.

Under all the dirt, the van is virtually unmarked. No scuffs on the interior trim, no marks on the cab floor, even the drivers seat isn't ripped and they rip for a past time!

I've impressed myself with this one!

What sort of money would that be up for?
Always fancied doing bit of a day van out of one of them

I used to sell them new, and this will be my 15th! Lol. So yeah I know them quite well.

We're going to start buying/selling a few of them now we have a ramp big enough for them.

Great vans though, better than rusty transits!

f**king hell thats look really nice.
Well done.
Your attitude to all the s**t that is happening to your life (from the other topic) is remarkable.
I wish, you get back at your feet sooner than what you expect.

This will be up for £4999 with no VAT. Lower mileage 10 plates seem to be fetching £75/8000 +vat so I think it will be priced pretty competitively. Plus, the first person to see it and drive it will buy it. It looks and drives like new. Not a single rattle or clunk from anywhere. (After I put 20+ more screws in the ply lining! lol)

Bloody cracking work mate. :)

My paint is flat as a witches tit, need a brake in the weather to sort it.

No half measures, proper good job. How long did all that take?

Around 10 hours actual work all in. A lot of coffee/fag breaks and chatting to the neighbours means it's dragged on a bit longer though. ;)

Jesus facking Christ Dan. They don't leave the factory that clean!

How long did that take you?

Oh and I agree, even I wouldn't buy an older transit. Only the sprinters are worse for rust ime.

Yeah Sprinter panels rust fast mate! But transits suffer terminal rot. My mechanic had a 53 plate in the other week and he put something stupid like 8 patches in for it's mot! That's dreadful for a 10 year old vehicle imo.

I didn't take a pic of the engine mate.

Apart from general dirt and dust, it was very clean! No leaks or anything.

Someone has looked after it properly it seems.

Horrendous, the ones we look after the owner loves, he resprays them time after time (ocd/too much money) one was missing a complete chassis leg and the only thing hloding the side panels on was sealer. Utterly insane, they weren't even 10 years old from memory!

Looks superb Dan. I take it its had either new injectors or engine already? The amount of engines/injectors we do on the Trafics is/was stupid. Scuttle panel leaks water onto the injectors causing a missfire. Injectors normally seize in then when trying to remove them they snap in the head, hence new engine.

Tbf mate, the amount of miles it's done, I don't think it's been stood still long enough for water to be able to drip downwards! lol.

But that could explain the very clean engine and the fact it runs so well??

You may have a good one then, the way to test the scuttle panel is to run a hose along the screen with the bonnet open and see if you can see water dripping into the engine bay. Vauxhall would have it on record if anything like thats been done. Then again who cares if its running great.

Proper good engines are those M9R beasts.

3 things i've had to do on previous corsas...

The area under the scuttle panel gets bunged up with leaves, overflows and fills the car.

Under the passenger side of the windscreen, (remove scuttle panel to see it properly) you'll see where all the hardware enters the cabin. The seals leak there and run into the car.

Where the brake servo is mounted leaks too but i've never actually done that one myself. Bit too much for me so I get my mechanic to do that one. He cusses at me though.

Thanks Daniel, im sure its going to be the last one.

Passenger side is dry as a bone, under the scuttle panel is clean as ive had them off a few times because the sliver birch tree next door drops its s**t everywhere so always make sure the drains are free.

I had it jacked up for a few days and the little storage thing behind the driver's seat had a puddle of water in.

Ill get Ant to give me a hand when the weather is better as I can't be assed to sort it on my own.

Cheers mate. :D

  Many.
Looks bloody good Daniel. Cleaner than mine! Will have to get you to clean our two when we replace them in 2 years.

On the topic of the van though, f**king love these things, Hope the replacement is as good, else I might consider the new Transit, having worked on a few it seems like a bloody good van.
