Im removing the std breather setup at the and replacing it with a mocal catch tank/open air breather. Will this have any effect on the running of the engine?

Hopefully it will stop the TB gunking up with shite. (main reason)

Im going to do it anyway but i wondered if anyone had tried a similar setup.
(i remember roamer's TBd clio used a ram air breather on some samco but he didnt run a catch tank)

jon_16v runs this.

i had one on my GTi.. just make sure the tank is vented (small breather filter).. should run fine, its not a presurised line.

block up the original air feed on the bend though

Yeah i have a samco bend with no breather hole.
The tank has a breather built in to the top.

personally i prefer to run a baffled catch can with return to sump and continue to use the vacuum line attached to the elbow or induction system.

But the TB gets gunked with oil too often.

The other solution is just to clean it more and leave it but its a pain.

if you want to buy a baffled one, i've not found one in the UK so i do use moroso.

Or you could get a fabricator to knock one up.

well, not straight up on its own really.

But oil vapour circulated though the intake system can drop the octane rating of the mixture.
