2014 Corvette Stingray and 1974 Corvette

Rented this for 9 days last week. Did 2000 miles round Daytona, Miami, the Keys then the gulf coast in it. 460bhp, went ok but felt lacking. Sounded good though.

I wanted the Cam SS first, this was an extra $600 but very worth it. It was a lot better on fuel than the SS. Last time with the SS I got 21mpg @ 70. With this I was seeing 33mpg (American gallons are only 3.8 litres too!).

Most of the time you will get let off if you play the daft tourist card, just be polite and have all your docs ready. Highest fine I've had was $190 but that was for doing well into 3 figures.

We have BMW's fairly well covered over there.... 535i and X5 with the 35i motor too.

Tbh so would I, paying a few quid for a full tank of fuel would be irresistible,

This was the 6 speed auto with paddles and no electric LSD so it wasn't as easy as I expected. Still it was a laugh.

From the end of the year they are getting the 8 speed the same as my BMW, then it'll be better.

Apparently they are good for 0-60 in 4.2 and 190mph, but it never felt like it.

Just been out there and hired the same car.
The noise it makes is something else. The pops and bangs on full throttle were awesome.
Was odd when it kept switching to a V4 tho. Sounded silent then.

Got plenty of people giving me a nod or thumbs up for it too.

Do have to agree with Waitey tho ugh at 460bhp and good for 190mph I was expecting a bit more. But easily saw 145 on the speedo before I wussed out.

Yeah think it could well be that, the gearing is really long as well, so guess that has its part to play (will have to be long to get to 190mph)

Which means they get the annoyingly long gearing, the performance pack sorts that out. Makes them feel much more urgent.

It was geared fine for what it was. 115 in 3rd if anything a little short. The LS just doesn't have enough grunt with 460bhp.

The house the 74 vette is outside is around £230k.

Most expensive house on the estate was £350k. That's 5 bed with twin garage and a pool.
