2x Clio 200 Details

[Harpham]

Over the past week, I have detailed both mine and Sargara's 200. The process started last Friday, when I had my wheels off to clean/seal them, plus give the brakes and arches a quick tidy up.

Process and products used for both cars (cba to write 2 lists):
- Clean wheels with Bilberry and wheel brush
- Snow foam y0
- Rinse
- Wash with 2xbm, tropical care shampoo dapprove and wash mitt
- Rinse
- Clay using i4d clay bar and Dodo Juice lube
- Wash again, as above
- Water sheet
- Dry
- Tape up plastics
- Polish using DA, range of pads and Menzerna polishes
- Wax using Dodo Juice or Vics Wax
- Wipe windows
- Wipe down door shuts, cracks in the bonnet etc where polishing dust had got into.
- Apply tyre shine
- Kick back
- Relax
- Have a drink of shampagne

On Sunday, I got up bright and early, up to the girlfriends house and set up camp for the day for the big detail.

Today.

Onto James's (Sargara) 200. Again, up bright and early, to the tune of an 8am start. Ill take this opportunity to say that I now hate all white cars. The amount of tar spots etc was unbelievable. Pain in the backside to get rid of them all aswell.
I also had to do this one outside my house, as I think I would be taking the pee a little bit if id have asked the girlfriend's parents to use their garage for it lol. Hello sunburnt lobster arms and neck :S

Im personally a little disappointed with how the GW 200 came up, as it still had swirls, but they're alot lighter now. I was hoping for a bit more correction than what was achieved. Hopefully Sargara is totally happy with the results.

Forgot to say aswell, another reason why I now hate white cars... The sun reflecting off the paint blinds you and you cant see where you have polished lol. I was seeing white spots for a good hour after finishing the detail.

Yeah you should. If anything, they'll help refine your finish/technique and you'll soon be spending money on a few more products lol!

Interested to hear you weren't happy with the finish. Which Menz polishes did you use? Sounds like a bit more practice is needed my friend, but it will come with time. First time using the DA?

Used the Menz Power and Final Finish. I think it was more because I was outside, the sun reflecting off the white paint was blinding me, so I couldnt really see how well everything was going. I still got a good level of correction, and James seemed happy, its just that I wanted perfection.
Ive used the DA quite a few times, on my 172 and 200. When I did my 172, I got it pretty much perfect. My 200 still has a few swirls at the front, but thats because it was right up against the garage door, so I couldnt get at it very well. Im going over that again before FCS though.

Get some tardis mate, its the most recommended tar remover.

Spray on, wipe over with a microfiber applicator (gallys recommendation) and rinse off. Job done.
