421 Cat cams RR Print out

Had a set of 421 Cat cams fitted last week along wih uprated engine mounts by K-tec and now it sounds more purposeful inside the car the way the engine noise/vibration is now transfered around the car. Still fairly quiet outside though, anyway here are the Rolling road print outs nowhere near the 200 mark some people are at with there cars but I'm happy with the power increase and torque

Take it elsewhere and see if they can get anymore from the set-up. Seems good improvements but some of the mapping work from K-tec has been improved elsewhere by company's like TDF and Rs Tuning

How does it drive now and how is the idle?

Thought about that but seeing as K-tec used to send your car to RS tuning originally when they first started with the mapping before they got their own RR. Bit jumpy to drive at low speed when cold and have stalled it a couple of times when selecting reverse (the embarassment) but just takes a few days to get used to.

Its strange how there is no real gain in power until 5000 rpm and then it goes nuts.

182s never went mad until 5k standard as this one does a lot of motorway travel it's nice to have that extra torque at speed which suits my needs and for normal driving about town it gets to 30 a bit quicker as the revs go up quicker and you have to work fist and second quick so you get to 5k faster than before. Power print outs don't do justice to how a car feels as you drive it

Nice gains, was it really 167bhp as standard?

If so, isn't that quite low for a 182?

I think a182 is normally 179 hp so looks like it may have lost 12 ponies in 6 years but it wasn't really noticed over time.
K-tec did say the figures were conservative so it may be more hopefully as I was surprised at a standard 167

I've got ITB's put a set of CAt 421's in a couple of weeks ago, going to Ktec for mapping on Wed june 8th, cannot wait to see the results, feels pokey as it is :D

Mine used to go nuts at 5k when the cam timing was out. Now the cam timing has been sorted the car drives much better. I was wondering whether to cam mine now though.

Would you recommend it ? Is it worth doing?

What were your symptoms of timing being out mate.?

The cam shaft locking tool wouldn't fit and my idler pulley was 180 degrees out. When the engine was set at TDC my pulley was full on upside down lol

I think you get good ones and bad ones, mine made 186bhp with just a decat and ph1 air box.

That's good gains you have got though so it's all good! And power figures are only pub talk!
