Day 4 update:

Locking the swirl flaps open has fixed the cold start issue. So I might put off the £700 cam belt and inlet manifold replacement until the belt is due next year.

Is that with software or manually locking them?

I assume they get covered in crud from the EGR and cause issues like with BMWs.

Popped the bar off the actuator and manually held them open.

This is a photo of a carbon'd up one with the swirl valve open!

So as you can see, even with it open they are basically blocked. No point getting it off to clean with the EGR still active either.

Not really difficult with basic ears or basic diag equip. Most sensors click.

Day 5:

Started ok from cold again!

Makes a noise like a boost leak at over 1bar boost though.

Saw another guy in a 159, he waved, lol didn’t know people did that with these!

It’s currently at Kwik Fit having a £20 air con re charge.

Cast your votes whether you think that’ll work...

I’ve not had many waves but when I have it’s been class😂I realise it sounds stupid as f**k but I love a wee community wave. Had a few in a z4 and a couple in clios

Day 6,

Fitted a new cabin pollen filter, the old one was dated 2013 and was minging.

Took the egr valve off to clean it and the fucker was spotless.... weird.

Power steering leak is back, looks to be the shaft out of the pump, which isn’t a biggie as pumps are only £80.

Day 7,

Good job I've ordered a new PAS pump, as PAS fluid is pouring out of this thing....

Being lazy last night and tightening up the banjo bolt with the ugga dugga gun has killed it lol

This will cost as much as the range to keep on the road and to compare a cars reliability to a range is saying something! 🤣

Just bought some spacers for the front, since it'll be nice to do something to it, which isn't just fixing it...

So.... plan for next week as it won't be used:

Saturday:
Onto axle stands
Wheels off ready for re furb
Clean brake disk bells up and paint
Aux belt off
Aux idler off
Power steering pump off
Stupid huge broken aircon pump line off
Cut those stupid crimp clips off everything

Sunday:
Get annoyed at all the fluids on my drive
Buy a s**t tonne of Jubilee clips to replace all the crimp clips I've cut off

Monday:
Drop wheels off for refurb
Spray everything in the engine bay with degreaser

Tuesday:
Fit new aircon line
Fit new spacers

Wednesday:
Fit new PAS pump
Fit Refurbed wheels
New Aux belt and Idler
Fit the s**t tonne of jubilee clips

Thursday:
Drive it again.... see what breaks next.
