Am I asking too much/Dreaming?

Losing the pic of the engine in bits with a big mallet on the top may help and the asking price or f**k off attitude too.
You're supposed to woo potential purchasers, not call them a cheapskate.
Pics of the boot and interior may help too.

You're advert is s**te IMO. (No offence intended).

I don't want to see the car in bits, or the lovely container of oil, I want to see shots of the car.

Inside, outside, the wheels...

Also, be patient, I know of someone who took a fair while to see his recently, but it went in the end.

Get it up on autotrader imo, because although it costs money, it BY FAR gets the most genuinely interested customers.

I think your major problem, bar the pics of it in bits, is the price.

Vish sold his recently, a 2003 model with similar miles/cambelt, etc, for £2100.

And that was a real struggle down here in Surrey, oop nurth, you'll get even less.

£2750 for a '51 plate 172?

If you cant get someone on here to fall for it, you'll be hard pushed to get Autotrader users to pick it up at that price.

'Modz' Dont add value, just reduce potential interest

:(

You tried it on Autotrader?

Price seems fair although its probably the least desirable colour for a 172. As for the photos I echo the comments above, no need for engine and oil pictures. Just keep it simple and less arty. 4/5 pics of the car from standard positions and one of the interior which are taken today rather than a mishmash from your ownership. I would also lose the Renault F1 sticker from the front for the sake of the sale.

Thanks for the input guys.

I shall get a couple of more "normal" shots, some of the interior and steering wheel too.

I shall also re-word the ad, as it seems its come across a little shitty. Oooops

Put it on PistonHeads (free or a £16 upgrade to premium with more photos) and AutoTrader. I had a lot of interest, a few people come to view mine and it's gone in under a fortnight.

Also, just my opinion but the last comment about "if you've got 2 grand go elsewhere" .. comes accross as a little arragant. A simple 'no silly offers' would suffice if you are inundated with calls from people asking to swap it for a set of saucepans.

£Price OVNO tells people the score anyway.

Nail + Head tbh...

Straight away, id be put off by the pics of engine work being done. Id only want to see clean images of the whole car. Not when it's in pieces.

Also, AT is mint. I put mine up on there, next day someone came and put deposit down on it. Between the time of him putting the deposit down and the day he picked it up (1-2more days), I had about 5-6 more calls.

FLOL. Forgot to mention that.

Personally, id take that off as people will want to budget another £500 to get it done elsewhere. So your £2700 is now £3200.

Flol! I was thinking the same !

WTF is that advert all about?

Pictures of the car in bits, Saying you're in no rush to sell then bumping the advert and reducing it. Saying you are buying a BMW then saying you want to do a deal on a mk2 Golf...

You need to sack it all off and start from scratch.

/\ lol

ph2 172 is a bit of an undesirable variant at the moment. 182's are below 3k now, and ph1's have bottomed out and going up in valaue again a bit for good ones. Ph2's are still on the downward slope value wise. 10 years old now too

Never mind the tool not in, what about s**t everywhere and the inlet's don't look blocked off to me? Where did that nut go.....................

Whether I was lucky or not, I paid £2000 for my monaco 172 November last year, pretty much identical to yours minus the mods, was standard. Mine had also had before I brought it 4 brand new alloys + a brand new steering wheel, cambelt had also been done about 9 months before. May of been ebay luck.

Would of thought yours would of been worth at least £2500? :S

Pikey as f**k imo. Over on 197 net some people will not listen, as the early ones are due cambelts. I point them to the many threads on here, and the few on Clio Trophy. "Ah but they are £100 cheaper" No s**t! I await the 'my cars running rough' threads ;)

Boils my piss tbh

On reflection they did take a while fitting my coilovers. Starting to panic a bit now, kind of thinking i should have gone to birchdown instead.
