Anyone stripped and rebuilt a 1.5dci engine? Cambelt failure

  Clio 1.5 dci
Hi all. My cam belt decided to give up on me at about 80 in the outside lane of the M62.

I'm tempted to have a go at repairing it myself. I have swapped complete engines before and tinkered with classic beetle engines.
Car is a 51 plate 1.5dci dynamique with 80K on the clock and overall in pretty decent condition. Worth fixing or am I better selling as spares / scrapping?

thanks

just buy a 2nd hand engine and drop it in? will be much cheaper as it wont cost you labour to do it :)

I have done one before, only 8 valves too, so a little simpler/cheaper/quicker than a 16v motor. the pistons are very heavy duty, so chance that you have damaged them is slim, which is good :)

so 8 valves, and a cambelt kit, and only single cam, so again, simple to time up.

i would get the valves/gasket set from "king components" very cheap, and quick delivery, its a trade supplier really, but they sell to the public. iirc all the bit cost me £120 all in too rebuild/repair the motor.
