Its on 72k now, still quite low for the age though. Ive always said it, and i know things change as time goes on, but to this day I still never plan on selling it. Eventually it will be garaged as at some point I will be getting a diesel.

I have mine serviced every year, I think I've only done around 6k this year and I'm now using it even less.


Within the next couple months like mentioned above, i will be having all the discs and pads changed along with fluid. Ive only ever changed them once since owning it. I got it with 22k on the clock and in 2009 had the front discs and pads changed then not long after that had the rear discs and pads done. So around 5 years ago which I think is quite a length of time for discs and pads to last on a 182, although like i have always said, I never drive it daft and have always looked after it. I can feel they do need changing soon though, although last mot was in september last year and neither front or rear were mentioned as an advisory.

Good work on the brakes, that's a good effort! You do about the same mileage as me, does keep the maintenance costs down. Do you have any more plans for the car this year?

No mate, nothing at all. Apart from renewing the brakes as I mentioned, and any other maintenance work that may be needed. I haven't made any real changes to it for a long time tbh. My days of spending money on it for anything other than maintenance things are over. I love it how it looks, and have done for a long time.

at some point in the future i will be getting a new car but like i have said many times, when that happens the 182 will not be going anywhere, it will be garaged away.

This summer I will be making a trip in it to France, its something I have wanted to do in the 182 for years so we have decided this year we are going to do it.

Today I decided to use the 3M headlight restoration kit I bought a few months back.

5 minutes into it, I started to worry that I was going to mess up my headlights, anyway I have seen quite a few threads on this and remained calm and followed the simple instructions provided.

They weren't the worst I have seen, but the top of them mainly had discoloured a yellow ish colour and felt really rough.

I spent around 2 hours on them and although they aren't 100% perfect, they are a huge improvement on what the previously were. They are now smooth to touch and I have managed to get rid of the discolour making them all clear again.

Please see the pictures below, it was quite hard to actually get a picture of how bad they were (they don't look as bad in the pictures as they were)

It will be garaged away mate. Il be getting a diesel towards the end of the year.

Before that happens though, were going to the South of France in it for our summer holiday this year.

I just wondered what you did with your cruise control buttons when you changed the steering wheel.

I booked in with Andy at clioturbo to have the track rod ends replaced and then to have the car MOT'd for another year.

Andy is a genuine decent guy who is more than happy to help and provide a fantastic service at a brilliant price. Its great to have a specialist up here in the North East who can be trusted. My car will only ever be taken here for work from now on.

It is also great to see other cars that are there having the turbo conversion completed.

A couple of pictures from today showing my BG and a few others.

MOT now passed for 13 months (i always get it done the month before it expires) with no advisories.

As I have always said, simply keeping your car clean and looked after makes a big difference. You dont have to spend a significant amount of money to freshen things up and make a nice improvement.

Something I have been meaning to change for some time now is the rear number plate bulb holder.

I made the purchase from Adam at Renault Wolverhampton on here which came to a total of £7.99.

What a difference this makes to the rear end of the clio, I recomend this to everyone who hasnt yet changed theirs and have the same problem as i did with the original.

Both out next to each other, didnt realise how bad theold one was until I saw it with the new one.

A common problem with the clio is that the light bulb itself doesnt work. I took the old tape off the wires to discover they were wet underneath the tape from rain so i gave them a clean and applied fresh electric tape

Before putting it in place i made sure the connection was good and the bulb was working

Huge improvement for £7.99

Fantastic thread to read! I recently just got myself a BG 182 so I've really enjoyed your posts :smile: I've already been making little changes like replacing the numberplate bulb holder to keep my OCD side happy haha!

It has been a while since I updated anything in here....

MOT is booked in for next week and i have the following to be done in advance,
- Genuine Renault rear discs and pads
-Brembo HC fromt discs with Brembo oem pads
- stainless steel bleed nipples
- Hub nuts
- Genuine Renault standard brake fluid

It was serviced a couple of months ago using genuine Renault filters and Fuchs Pro S oil as always. The major belt service is due again next summer.

MOT passed today with no advisories. Mileage is 79,596.

Also had the discs and pads fitted with a full brake fouid flush.

These arrived in the post today as I noticed the sound deadening material was missing a couple of grommet type fixings, although I'm not sure how they would of fell out without being purposfully removed....

Hi Guys, a small update to make.today i had a go of trimming a few parts i havnt tried before, i did the interior wing mirror covers and the strip on the top of the doors.

Epic bump but this is exactly what I want to do. Anyone know where to get this, can only find black or very light grey at the moment. How hard was it to glue on?

I dont have cruise control with the smaller wheel although there is a guy on here who has made an adapter which i will be getting as soon as i can get hold of a spare loom.

Mine ticked on to 80k last week.

A trimmer in York did them for me mate. Im sure if you find a local trimmer they will be able to do them for you in no time.

This arrived today, it isnt a car part, but it is for the car....
My eml light is on at the minute which I believe is due to a lambda sensor needing replacement. Hopefully this will be able confirm this and turn off the light

For a long time now I have wanted to be able to do more work on the clio myself. I would like to replace the engine and gearbox mounts and think I will read up on here and attempt it myself.
I got a car jack and set of axle stands as a birthday gift which will allow me to be more hands on myself.

I remember a while back noticing a small damp patch in the corner of the boot so I decided to take the carpet out last weekend to discover a small puddle of water in both corners at the rear of the boot (closest to the rear bumper).

I had heard that this is a common issue and it is caused by the small plastic grommets at each side of the boot. I removed them both and could see this was how the water had been getting in so i bought some silicone, covered them init and pushed them back in place.

I left the boot carpet against a radiator in the house for 3 days to fully dry out. It was surprising how much the padded material can absorb.

Next up is the passenger side sun visor. A while back the mirror part came loose and one of the wires for the lights had came away.
I have bought a soldering iron so I can connect the wire back in place and will make sure the mirror is firmly in place with some adhesive so it doesnt come loose again.

I have also started to gather together some new cleaning products. Nothing major, but it has been a while since I last bought any and have ran out on a few things. At some point in the future I would love to get a Das6 machine and learn how to use that.

I have had the omp treve to wheel on the clio for the past 5-6 years and I still love the way it feels driving with it. I have my standard wheel stored away, and I have also just bought a brand new 182 wheel which will not be going on the car as im going to store it away for the future. I will never sell the 182 and at some point it will end up being stored away in a garage which is why I think it was a good idea to have a brand new standard wheel.
Im going to get a bracket made up for my omp wheel so i can make ise of the cruise control again as I have missed having this.
I managed to get a spare cruise control loom for this, along with an indicator stalk from a ph1 which has the added horn button on.

And next up is the major service as It will have been 5 years next month since It was last done. It has covered 32k in that time. Im booked in to have the full service completed including dephaser, waterpump and gearbox oil.

I managed to get my hands on a brand new 182 steering wheel which came up on here from Serkan all the way in Turkey.

My plans for this are to store it away and keep it for the future as I intend on storing the clio away at some point when no longer required for daily use.

The wheel arrived today, I have opened the box to have a look at it but im not going to even bother removing the cling film it is wrapped in. Feels nice knowing I have a genuine immaculate wheel as we all know about the common issue with these wheels melting from new.

I mentioned above that im determined to become more competent with fixing things myself. As I recently got the jack and axle stands I made a start on getting my hands dirty today.

I started with the other halfs clio which we both use for travelling to work.

I ordered everything needed to do a service which only came to £34 and did that today. Was a lot easier than I thought it would be and it is running way quieter than it was before and feels much smoother.

I managed to get both lambda sensors for my 182 from someone on here breaking a clio. I took a risk buying used sensors and wouldnt normally do this but i got them for £33 rather than paying £140 for brand new.

Although they are used, they appear to be in way better condition than mine when i removed them!

I was going to ask a garage to do it for me but after doing the service on the work car and feeling like a man I decided to crack on myself and give it a go.

I had read on here some people had spent hours trying to change them but found it really easy and had them both replaced in 15 minutes.
The hardest part was clipping in the sensor on the pre cat as it is tucked away so difficult to see!

Post cat was easy peasy though and took 2 minutes.

I cleared the eml light with my fault code reader.

When I then started the car it was making an awful thudding sound and idling very lumpy. I took it for a drive and noticed it was getting stuck around 3-4k and not allowing me to progress. I pulled over to turn the engine off and started it up again, I then took it for a 10 minute drive. The problem seemed to have gone and it felt like it was running fine so I returned home.

A while later I took it out for another 10-15 minute drive to see how it was. Everything was perfect, no strange noises, idling as it should be at 7500ish and felt smooth.

WhenI returned home I checked the mpg which was showing 42. It has been mid to late 20's for a long time so feels great knowing It is working as it should be again and i did it myself.

Is replacing these sensors a good idea to possibly improve economy if no warning lights or codes are present?
