Bad Tuning & work shop work

there was a chap at FCS going mental with them, something about they had done something and it was wrong was quite funny to watch

Tbh smart move by ktec making their Facebook group have a generic "Renault uk" name as that way it looks independent. Can't fault the business logic in controlling a big social media group so you can manipulate what public opinion appears to be.

And now you know why they get a loads of business, they must have a massive rug down at HQ.

Also what a bunch of helmets on that Renault UK anyway, seems to be the type of people more interested in their dash strips clashing with their steering insert than anything else.... I'm out.

Here come the renaultuk ktec bumming I've got mods on finance mafia..

I'm going to have to sway to chip's side here unless someone can clearly highlight any info stating that he is discriminating dans work..

As always the tread is on the edge of being deleted and new members will never see ktec's MAPPING for what it really is.
 
Bit gutted to hear this as they seem to be the only place that advertise this cam and map package drivein drive out style ... Who else does it and what's their price I'd like to have some wild cams in mine and a decent map was looking at the 428,s I believe as I love a lumpy idle and considering the cams are £750 £1300 didn't seem too bad fully installed and mapped....

I'm sure any specialist will be happy to do it and will probably easily match or even beat K-Tecs prices.

I know for a fact, that if you bought the parts, Mike@S&MWM or even Matt@Codered would happy fit it all for you and sort out mapping.

I'm confused. I thought it was chris savage that set up Renault uk page hmmm!

Chris savage created it but its the ktec lot who delete comments & ban people. Chris aint like that and is a gd lad. Ktec is a very touchy subject on that page and so is cliosport.net

Didn't think 519 had anything to do with ktec or have I been missing something? I also thought 519 were suppose to be a reputable company?


Andy Cutler used to employ Danny & Bex at Grey Devil Industries (GDI). They went belly up & Ktec took Andy on for his 'mechanical expertise' as they were mainly a mail order business at the time (or David couldnt be ar5ed to get his hands dirty anymore lol) and Bex went over to do admin. Danny went his own way, doing odds & sods here & there, then cambelts/mechanicals at JMS. After a while he set up 519 and did his own thing, building up a good rep for honest work. Naturally, having worked for Andy Cutler in the past, a partnership was setup up to resell/fit k-tec products, etc.

This is probably good for Danny's pocket, but not for his reputation amongst more experienced people, mainly as anyone who is 30+ years old, or has been around Renault's for ages thinks Andy's reputation is umm, yeah.

For reference, the 'unit of death' that used to be GDI's premises is now where TDF are based.

As I say I'm shocked that I'm not banned yet and to be honest I don't care.
yeah k-tec have a good mail order side of the business but from reading and seeing more than once there work they put out its crazy how people can still defend them and go back time and time again

Pretty much, but they did also go to omex, which was a very short affair.

I have a few things I want to add to what people are saying though.

Kyle, why are you not posting KTEC's name in the thread title? Or naming them in the opening post? Are you trying to get a refund etc? If so, entirely understandable, if not, utterly ridiculous.

You've had terrible work done, and you're in a long line of many, I'd almost like to start a thread for those affected by KTEC to post a nice little piece each, and then I could make it a Cliosporticle. That'd be one for the history books.

The reason you should be naming them, is so that others don't do what you have, and go get work done because "they're KTEC". For some reason you had work done there, despite all of what has been said on here in the past, so the information on them is evidently not clear enough.

Personally I hope that KTEC lose a serious amount of business from reviews on here as friends (and no, not me personally because I've been here too long) have had some serious issues that have cost some eye watering money. It's staggering that a company of their magnitude still manage to consistently f**k things up, they should move to offering off the shelf solutions only, nothing special, nothing custom, nothing that your average monkey couldn't do.

This should definitely be done. I almost went to K-Tec for a 438 cam package and after a lot of research only just came across a few horror stories, which was enough to sway me. Then I found Mike. I was new on here and wasn't really aware of the things I am now. In my opinion there needs to be a big...warning/ alert almost, with links and posts to all the horror stories to stop other people from suffering the same problems.

I assume Kyle didn't name and shame because he was concerned the thread would just get locked like most other K-Tec slagging threads do.

i need to see if i can find the write up about my car that k-tec did for me now you mention doing something like this rob...

how can you put down that an engine failed due to driving style? i had someone in the car with me on the way to germany when the engine decided to poo itself.. we were on a motorway in france doing 70mph.... but that bad doing a steady speed i guess??

the company is a joke and i hope they get whats coming to them! part of the reason im now outing my car coz i cant be arsed putting right what crap workmanship they did to the car!

im not ment to post about this but tbh i dont care anymore! im sure alot of the old south people know the crap i have gone through with k-tec and all they ever did was fob me off! if it wasnt for matt at TDF i probably would have got rid of the clio 3 years ago!

Yes that probably will be removed, but a genuine experience should never be removed from the forums. One of the key responsibilities of the club is to try and offer it's members a well rounded view of the specialists that are out there and try to ensure that our members are well informed on such things.

If 900 people jump in saying "my mums brothers uncle had his car blow up before it even got out the carpark" then this will have to be moderated and removed, but there's a huge difference between just slagging someone off and posting negative experiences.

I'd have no issue with 10 other members joining in in here and saying "my car had this this and this wrong with it when it went to KTEC", it's just the examples above we can't have.

Hopefully what I've said above clarifies this, but I'll always try and protect the "little guy" on here mate, and I certainly wouldn't be removing threads etc.

Lol at them threads Dan, the current admin backing him up then as well! Just goes to show the favoured specialist of the month will be covered!

We all know things were different back then Nick, I hope things are little less biased now days, back then it was all mates, mates rates, and blokes with a halfords socket set proclaiming to be god.

The ktec f**k up sounds great. Im sure there will be more posts then things I like & dont like lol

I never named because I never wanted this to be locked. But I tried to make it as obvious as possible lol
