Best fixed bucket seat for veryday use?

  Discounted 1*2 parts
My aim with my 182 is turn it into a track ready car. I would like to remove the seats and just have 2 front fixed buckets. My question is which seats offer the best combination of lightness, comfort and affordability?

Also is it best to go for side mounted or base mounted. I know i want to get a lower driving position but unsure which mounts would offer this.

Thanks Tom

Ive recently got Bimarco Futuras, and they tick all of your requirements. They're comfy, light and very affordable.

Mine are side mounted and are bolted straight to the floor, so you could get any lower!

Cobra Imolas are a popular choice, but for my build they are a bit tight around the hips/legs. The futuras are a bit wider, but are VERY supportive in the upper body area, which is better imo, as you dont roll about as much :)

just had a pm from tom at jms and the futuras seats seem to be exactly what i'm after. How much did they cost you mate and are they easy to fit?

Just to show you what they look like. I would say that they seem a bit tricky to use with seatbelts, hence why Ive gone down the harness route.

Regarding fitting, they were a fekin pain in the ass! Because I bought them with incorrect subframes, so I had to bolt them directly to the floor. JMS do proper mounts, and still retain the use of the runners iirc.

Cobra Imola ;)

I've never sat in the Bimarcos so can't comment on them, but I love my imolas! I do about 16k a year, including a lot of long journeys and I've never felt uncomfortable in them. Comfy, supportive, light and look really nice for the money! Got the Imola S myself which I think has been replaced with the Pro now.

Best bet is to try a few out to see what you like the feel of. If you're going to trax I'm sure they'll be a few people there that won't mind you having a sit in their's :)

Thanks, I'll try and get some better photos soon. :)

I havent done a long journey in them yet, but Friday I'll be going up to Bedford, so I'll let you know how they do :)

Recaro Pole Position...I doubt any seat manufacturer knows more about ergonomics and it's the choice of quite a few big car manufacturers for stock seats. Pole Positions were available in the TT Quattro Sport and Porsche 968 as standard.

Arguably the best looking as well.

Recaro also offer a range of seats in different sizes, so there should be one to fit everyone.
