Bloody Steam

To cut a long story short, I had my account nicked. It turns out that they hacked it and then sold it on ebay or something violating Steam rules

When it was first hacked I got it back for a couple of days, then it got disabled, then I got it back, then it got disabled again. It's been going on for weeks. Just got an e-mail from Steam -

Hello Stewart,

We have found activity in your Steam account related to selling accounts.

Per the Steam Subscriber Agreement, we have disabled your account and any games contained in it. Your account will not be reactivated.

The Steam Subscriber Agreement can be found at:
http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=subscriber_agreement

In addition to violation of contract, activities on your account may violate federal law and state law. If such activities persist, Valve reserves the right to refer the matter to authorities

FFS, Right PISSED off. Steam have basically said that there is nothing they can do about it now. What a f**king waste of £200 worth of games. :dapprove:

I can't think of any ways at all to prove that I didn't sell the account.

email this bloke and tell him to get his fat arse in gear and re-activate it

Doubt Gabe would do fk all.

He probably gets hundreds of hate emails a day from Half Life fans wanting a number 3.

Will get deleted IMO.

And yeah... Very poor attempt at a facepalm pisstake :dead:

Very unlucky about the account though. Can you not argue with them to check the IP's the account was logged on at and details changed etc etc.

Again, I doubt nothing will get done as most of the stupid decisions on there are permanent (VAC etc)

:(

I didn't even know you could ring them!? I work in a massive bank so I can use their phones to call USA no problem

I've spoken to them before about an issue, but I don't think they publish the numbers (they rang me IIRC)

Was long, long time ago though

Surely if you give them all the facts and you have proof it was hacked then sold on eBay by a third party I can't see why they wouldn't help.

I'm just struggling to find proof that it wasn't me that sold it. The lad who bought the account had been using it for about a year, he even racked up 925 hours of CS:S! Surely it the same principle as buying a stolen car, the person who bought it loses out and the car gets taken away.

I take it that was a joke :rasp:

What proof have they asked for?

None. They have basically just shrugged their shoulders and believe that I sold this account to somebody and then claimed it back. They're treating me like a criminal :dapprove:

If they can give you dates of when they say it was sold, can't you just get bank activity/PayPal records for that day?

Probably not what you really want to see now m8, but it looks like they are trying for the rest of us unaffected by stolen accounts.....

Forgot to update the thread sorry, they finally gave it me back last week! I sent them a lengthy e-mail asking them to check IP addresses etc, to show the account was compromised before it was sold on. Waited about a week and then received an e-mail saying - "Stewart. Your account has now been unlocked. Regards. Steam"

Sorted

OMG DO WANT, DARREN.

Unfortunately I have been without the internet for over a week, since I've moved into a new house. Plusnet are currently saying an engineer will be around on April 4th to "check/install the phone line" :(

Therefore, I've devoted my free time to finding faction items in Just Cause 2. 40% completed!

Edit: If you're wondering, I'm at work at the moment :rasp:
