Bonnet Catch?

Hopefully going to see a 172 soon (tomorow or saturday). Been reading up and obviously came across the bonnet catch stories and problems. But how does one tell if it's problomatic, what are the signs?

Also very noob question. How can one tell form the service book if belts have been changed?
I've only ever flicked through my parents but does each stamp say what's been done?

May as well put it out there, but anyone know of the guy selling a 172 in Tranent?
In short it's 03, 77k miles, full history for £1700.

Phone Renault with the reg and they can tell you if it has been done.

Renault will tell you if it's been done if you give them the reg.

Renault told me they didnt care if it had been done and would do it again for peace of mind

if you are going to buy a 172 I would do the belt anyway for your own peace of mind ! What happens if the previous owner has blagged it and it snaps on you ?
