^^have you posted your results online with a graph? Wouldn't mind seeing it if you have.
Btw. The car at the West Midland RR day that produced 179bhp did have approx 103k on the clock and had either worn piston rings or valve seals. Just thought I would paint a more complete picture.
That being the case should this have not been tested for and pointed out at time of fitting ? and/or should he not of been advised against fitting cams and mapping an engine in that condition ?

not entirely realistic to health check before doing the work. Last one I did was running pretty badly when it came in and the cams were fitted at the same time as sorting the issues. Fixing the issues forst, then doing the cams would have been double the work for a lot of it (alternator change, dephaser pulley change ect)
179 sounds about right on stock airbox as I said (different dyno's dependant)
Thats two that have had those cams and haven't performed!
Incorrect fitting?? Something isn't right imo........
not incorrect fitting, i did it, timing is perfect unlike some cars we see
4 other cars have done good power on them
Harri's is a bit tired and the history of f**k ups on that car is long (not by us) so that's about right really but Johnnys is a strange one, im thinking it might be a dodgy batch, but until i look into it who knows!
Flol crafty dig their ay Fred?? nothing wrong with my timing as it run the best power of the day!!! must have been the way it was checked!
I shall leave it there.
Fred definitely knows how to fit a set of cams, and from what I can tell he wasn't having a dig at your car anyway. If you're going to jump to the conclusion that a set of cams are s**te just because you saw one car run poor power more fool you tbh
Mine are fitted correctly just have an issue at the moment should be sorted this week
I will have an update soon.
0.1 of a second down isn't as bad as i was expecting! I'm on at GT Racing everyday, you haven't been forgotten mate, i'll get it sorted as soon as poss! As i said on the phone if needs be we'll rip them out and put something else in
Cant wait im itchin to find a couple of seconds
How are the cams coming along Johnny ? need a bit of competition at the next event lol
Hi Johnny
I have just sent off a very late entry for the Chester MC 3 sisters 2 lapper on the 5th August as they are accepting late entries with no penalty, looks like the financial situation for people is taking effect.
I have also tried to get Russ out......
What about you?
Ive just booked Aintree 1/9/12 and i might do Wigan. How do i book??
Hello John, see you and Colin on the 5th, just had the confirmation and it's passed it's MOT, just need to raise the suspension back up about 10-15mm, should of had it set to standard ride height and started there but don't have time, and well done at Blyton as well.
Regards Russ....
Nice one Russ we can give Colin some serious competition now, i just need to get my car sorted lol
Hows it going with that, any news John?
Regards Russ.......
ready whenever you are (not this week though) am i collecting?? i want to keep the car for a few days
Sorry to highjack the thread a bit but this thread has been good reading as Dr Faulks will soon be fitting some uprated cams in my 172. It’s currently at 202bhp / 175ftlb with ITB's, de-cat & EC1 etc. I think Matt mentioned fitting 428's and we’d be looking at 215-220bhp and 185ftlb but it appears from this thread that there are 438's available, is it therefore worth going for something wilder than the 428's?? The car is a track-car foremost but must be drivable to and from the track. (James - will also soon be having Alcons fitted!!)
Thanks, I got the impression 421's are for standard engines & ECU whereas 428's are for ITB's & stand-alone ECU's. I'm just wondering if I could go wilder?
