Changing brake pads on a 1,4

im needing to change the pads on my 1.4 is there a guide anywhere on how to do it exactly? im probs going to go to frauds to purchase some pads tomorrow. what kind shall i get. i tend to hammer the brakes quite a lot although the standard pad doesn't seem to overheat too much, just nothing softer

Standard Halfords pads are fine I've used them for years on my car without any fade. I use the more expensive pads of the two they sell as there still only £17 and £1 more than the chapest.
Changing pads is easy though.
Loosen brake reservior top.
Jack car up remove wheels.
Undo the two bolts holding the caliper on at the back (14mm I think)
Pull caliper up and off and hang on the suspenion strut (don't stretch the piping). You need two spanners etc for this as the bolt is two piece one the inner part can spin as you undo the outer bolt (it makes sence when you see it)
Take old pads out (might need a screwdriver to get them out if there stuck)
Replace pads with the new ones the right way round. (if you want put some of that brake stuff on the back of them but I've never bothered and its not a problem).
Get the caliper and put a G clamp on it 9if your week or push the piston back with your hands if your strong enough), best undo the bleed nipple slightly and let the fluid in the caliper go out of there.
Put the caliper back in place and use the two new bolts to tighten the caliper back to place (40NM is the correct torque to use)
put wheel back on and tightern nuts (90NM officially recomended)
You can do it in 40 minutes if you don't stop for a tea break. I recon in an emergency you could do it in 30 minutes. ALthough it would take soem more time (maybe 15 minutes to properly bleed the fluid which is well worth it but not absolutly necessary when you hance the pads)
