changing front discs/pads on 182

  Cup 182
Hi, got to change the discs and pads after 26k miles, can I assume it is striaght forward, i.e. removal of calibre is 19mm bolts x 2, disc should then slide off (once the 2 small pozy retaining bolts are removed), or do I have to remove the castlated hub nut and replace with new? appart from that is there anything else, like messing around with the abs?

Is there any technical info which could help with this sort of basic maintenance stuff on the web??

Many thanks.

The caliper will come off once you have removed the two small bolts. If it's stubborn, tap from behind with a rubber mallet or something.

You don't need to touch the central hub bolt.

You have the rest right.

You will probably want to take the cap off the brake fliud reservoir to enable you to push the piston bacn into the caliper enough to allow for the extra thickness of new discs/pads. Don't forget to to put the cap back on though.

Cheers Chris thanks for your help, can't believe the discs have gone after 2 years and 26k miles, Renault might be interested in helping out with the cost but they quote £374 for the job, so i'll do it myself for half the price and have better brakes at the end of the day.

hi everyone! brand new to cliosport. had my clio 182 a year now and feel its time to get more out of it! havent really got a budget so i'm wanting to upgrade my brakes, suspension and exhaust. been intouch with k-tec racing and they've got some pretty cool stuff. i want to get the best possible results from the gear i buy so i'm not looking for just an 'affordable' upgrade but the proper stuff. a re map is being done next month along with a bmc cda induction kit. i wanted my exhaust done before the remap to be honest. my only concern is the suspension. i've been told to get a coil over set up but then i've been told by a motorsport mechanic to just replace the springs?? dunno what to do. i want to replace discs and pads all round. have been recommended tar-ox. any suggestions??? thanks for your help.

definatly wait for the remap untill you've had the exhaust sorted, i only changed the springs on my last car, it was fine, i'd probably only change the dampers if you are serious about track driving etc.

DOn't just replace the springs you have to spend a fortune to get a beter setup than Renault managed else why do you think Renault woulnd't have fitted the different springs as such.

H and R coilovers are what I'd recomend £750 or so your looking at.

Good shout, people sometimes forget that when you drop a car the damper travel will be reduced and can sometimes mean hiting the bump stops, Also renault would have put loads of time getting the balance right between comfort and performance.
