chipped paint 182 side strips (pics)

  Titanium 182
hi just washed my 182 today and noticed these chip marks out of the paint which have happened in the last 2 weeks (since i last washed it). I think its probably from my brothers bike pedal or one of his mates.

there was a faint scratch that was a few inches long but some scratch remover got rid of that as it wasnt deep

what would be best to do? get the bit painted or use a chip pen from reno?

bit wary of the colour match if i was to get it painted!?

thanks Dean

here are the link to the pics;

send them to middo on here mate, im sure he'll be able to sort you out!

ok mate, you had anywork done from him?

if i was going to get them painted id want them to be bang on colour wise thats what would worry me as iv had a silver car in the past, it got broken into so i had it delocked and whilst the work was of good quality the colour match wasnt perfect so i took it back and they redone it and it still didnt look perfect!

apparently its very hard to match!

you can fill them yourself using a bit of paint from a proper place, and then wet sand it flat and machine it back.

but if i was in your scenario chips away would be getting my money for a smart repair on the area. quality depends on the skills of the guy, so ask around your friends for a good one :)

heard mixed reviews about chips away but id forgotten about them so will give them a call!

i wouldnt try filling it myself then sanding it back as i dont have a clue about what im doing!

if i touch it up myself and it doesnt look good could i then call chips away or not?

I've got the same problem on mine.

Gonna take the strips off, rub them down a little and put a few coats over, then flatten and lacquer.

Its not that hard bar being patient.

i know it wont be hard but when you dont know much about paint work id sooner pay someone who does know!

was just worried about the colour match with painting really!

think il try a chip stick for now then maybee chips away!

you can. i had a go at my bonnet ones on my old car - made a right mess of it. but he came and sorted all my mess up

lol cool,
iv been to my local car parts place and they only had a chip stick in iceburg,

i dont know wether to get a chip stick from renault, anyone know how much they are from the dealers?

the guy in my local car place was selling some stuff thats like a wax that comes with a chip stick for your colour car where you basically fill the chip with the stick then wax the area to smooth it!

dont know which to try?

if they dont look anygood then il call chips away!

how much do chips away usually charge?

sorry for all the questions!

depends on the individual person but should be that much.

the colour magic stuff you talk of is just an advertising gimmick so avoid at all costs lol.

as for the chip stick they do sell them at renault but its cheaper (usually about a fiver) if you get them from a local paint specialist so grab the yellow paints and look for someone like auto-paint.co.uk etc.
