Clio 1.2 turbo surprise!

My megane is in for an isofix recall and i've been given a clio expression 1.2 which I wa snot looking forward to, and while the interior is gash, the seats so unsupportive compared to recaros the engine is a cracker!

Its the 100bhp turbo 1.2 and it really has got some get up and go, i love it for a courtesy car, a real nice surprise, just wish the interior was nicer.

yeah twingo 1.2 turbo surprised me with the engine, I thought it would be fairly lifeless but the engine seems to be quite nippy.

Gutted though as tonight I lined up at a set a lights alongside an Astra VXR, the first time i have seen one since i got the megane and i had a shitty clio lol, oh well, maybe it was for the best!

On my motorway journey tonight I averaged 35mph?

saying that they are only 11 sec to 60 according to the renault website, it just feels really quick for a 1.2 clio having driven non turbo ones before.

Something that made me laugh though wehn looking at the stats on the renault website was the 0-60 of the 197, on the normal renault website (so not the RS site) they have it down as 6.1 -60 which is quite funny!

not really, no, it seems fast all the time, i can't even tell you when the turbo kicks in, its not like a kick and you can't hear it.

Driven this motor in the Twingo and it's a right laugh. Mk2 Clio chassis helps, too!

Are you sure it's a turbo...? My mate has one, and in hers you can feel it surge when you hit 2krpm in the first 3 gears, quite pronounced.

Is this a new shape Clio? If it is I imagine the extra weight dents the fun some what, try the same engine in the new Twingo (TCE GT), it's an absolute hoot. I want one badly, under 1000kg, 0-60 in under 10secs and it got much better mpg than 35 (closer to 50).

Sure it doesn't come close to how my Cup accelerated, but it was a great laugh (in much the same way I imagine the Panda 100HP or Swift Sport is) and at legal speeds it could potentially be more fun.

well i'm comparing it to my R26, which is a lot more obvious when the turbo kicks in, i drive a turbo so i'm pretty sure i can tell, but its defo the turbo engine.

Fair call Try it from a virtual standstill in 2nd, foot hard down, when it gets just over 2krpm you'll really feel it.

Has anyone released a remap for these yet? Ramped the boost up and got 150bhp hehe ?

I think you probably mean the Renault Clio Dynamique 1.2 Turbo 100 SX, they are quite nippy but because of the Euro Ncap safety rating the car weighs alot, the turbo kicks in about 2000 revs 3rd gear and upwards.

I wasn't disputing anything, I'm not exactly an expert on MX5s but I'd rather have one than a Clio (both are gay, but one is RWD)
