Ye, everything is fully adjustable now, the only thing that is holding me back now is the arches, because I'm using 16inch wheels, not getting as much castor, but still a decent amount.
Going to tube the arches next winter when we we strip it back.

  Mental 172 Cup
He doesn't have anything lined up for the standard hub :( Although he does have quite a few sets of Laguna hubs so sourcing them wont be an issue :)

Out of interest what is the difference between 172 hubs and Laguna hubs??

they use a much larger wheel bearing, also it doesnt use a pinch bolt for the ball joints. only down side is the bolt spacing isn't the same as clio so would mean modifying your suspension struts.

Only I small update.
managed to fit the cup racer brake vents yesterday, took me like 4 hours of messing around to get them to fit!

These ain't original ones but copy's of the originals so you can imagine how bad the fit was, but I'm pretty pleased how they turned out :)

You may want to put that tab that you have secured with 2 bolts behind the bumper as it gives better angle for the ducting.

I await a full update with more pics and vids of g/box, lower arms etc etc :)

Tbh I thought that as the angle isn't great, I searched a little before fitting and noticed that some people put the tab further over to get a better angle but the problem I have now is that that I've cut the other side so won't be a nice fit,
I'll try that and see how it goes,

Just need to make some plates now the same as cup racers to deflect the cold to air to the brakes,
What are the cup racers ones made out of? Would ally be ok?

ye I need to get some decent videos up :), I'm testing in Pembrey on the 28th with nick from pms, will take a load of pictures and some in car videos then.

I found mine fitted best by putting the tab behind as it contacted the subframe mount otherwise.

These are what genuine ones look like and are made of fibreglass, personally Ally would be better as it can be bent back after a trip threw the gravel in my case. I have a few sets to get threw first, one of which is old and they spider crack with age.

Thanks for that, I'll try and copy that as best as possible, I see what you mean but making them out of ally, I suppose they just snap otherwise being so rigid, especially me doing rally I'm sure ill be going off in all sort of condition lol.

do you think you could measure that plate and send me the measurements please? Would save me loads time :)

I'll do that later on tonight mate when I'm home, they are just basically cable tied onto the small support that bridges from the subframe to chassis leg and a small bolt at the front.

What are you using for the sump and petrol tank guards and where did you get them from ?
Cheers

Tank guard is a Kevlar guard from Hal off here, not sure if he's still doing them?
the sump guard is from pure Motorsport, which is 6mm thick. nice bit of kit with the tunnel in it for the gear selector, I'll take pic later if you want?

I have just had a look on PMS it looks very good, but I was after something cheaper lol

Cheers

When are you next out and where ?

Haha that's my car, didn't realise he's put them on the web site,

well not got any set dates asyet, just going to do testing and go from there, most likely do local event first and see what happens. Plan is do the full welsh Tarmac champ next year now, this year is just to get the little things sorted and get used to the car and new box :)

You can use the cup racer(?) item from Renault. It is about 80 quid and then weld some extra plates onto it.

Thats the one I have.

Do you think that's up to rallying though, its only like 1mm pressed steel, would need a good bit of 'beefing' up to be good, no?

Didnt get a chance to measure last night Andrew but I'll post them in here for others ref. as well

No mate, I would def not use it for rallying, my old Escort one was about 1/2inch thick, was titanium though.

Having a solid plate also acts as a subframe stiffener which is well needed on a Clio, you want (if the worst happens) to be bending wishbones not the frame.

You might beg to differ Andrew as I bet your arm was sold in order to buy your cars arms.

lol it was the speed I took the jump that did the damage , I broke my bumper and headlight and rad brackets and bent the inner wing slightly as well , my sump guard is good and is staying on the car , for a tarmac sump guard which needs more of a skid its very good , I wouldn't use it on a gravel car though, its been fine on all the other rallies I have done , just make a mental note that clio's do no jump well as they land on there noses !

It will only be for single venue tarmac rallies , so hopefully need not to be too big and heavy.
Cheers

That is a proper sorted weapon you'll have there by the end. Been lurking on the forum for a few months but felt I had to post a comment on this one! Currently driving a 182 on the road but I'm hoping to get a 172 myself soon too to turn into a track / night event car. Think I'll have to keep referring back here for tips! Keep up the good work.

How much did the adjustable wishbones and subframe modification cost in the end? Looks very well engineered. Something ill definitaly look at adding to my car in the near future.

Quite a lot. I did choose to have a the more uprated spherical bearings which bumped the price up. As I'm the first to have this I did have it cheaper. Nick told me that the fabrication cost where more than first anticipated so he will be selling this more than what I had paid for it. I'll send you pm now.

That sounds brilliant to me. I'm pretty busy with work for the next couple of weeks but I'll pm you at some point when I've got some time. About time something came along to give the Mk2's a run for their money!
