I can’t decide whether to go north around Birmingham and use the A5 or the more scenic but slower route with less motorways around the south and into mid wales.
Either way I’m looking forward to it. I’ve got most of the day to get up there.

@Filters may well take up your offer of some tuition laps if theres an opportunity.

  Whichever has fuel
It’s suddenly dawned on me that it’s now a week away.
My car doesn’t start.
2 bald tyres. (I used 6 last time!!)
Needs oil change
There’s no way I’m trusting the Disco to tow with so I need to find a tow car.
And I don’t recall buying my ticket yet.

Brilliant. I promised myself I would be better this year because every single year it’s a mad rush on Thursday night.
Ah well. Late night Thursday it is.

Next year when you're living in a shed you'll be ready 6 months in advance!

It was funny watching @Filters argue with her last year

She was having none of it. I'd have put a tenner on her to come out the other side of a scrap on top

You mean when she said we wouldn’t be allowed to have multiple passengers through the day? 😂

I've got a couple of shafts I can bring. Are you able to do it at the circuit? I'll be there on the Friday.
@Daniel was kind enough to sort me out with a driveshaft but it’s still knocking its nipples off. I have a sinking feeling I’ve done the diff 😬

Looking at hiring a car for the day now 👍

Here we are then, a short 3-minute video with a lap of each configuration.

First is the International (the longer) circuit which we ran in the morning last time. Second is the Coastal circuit which cuts out a couple of straights and a hairpin, and instead gives us the glorious "corkscrew".

I assume we'll be doing the same this year as last...International in the morning and Costal in the afternoon...can you confirm @Sunglasses_Ron ?

Can any of the Welsh lads recommend some places to visit on my drive up through Wales? I’ll probably be coming in from Hereford.

A nice scenic drive and some lakes and nice scenery would be great. Will have most of the day to drive up so will have plenty of time,

Something like this, maybe? I'm not sure if you've done it before or not...? It might need a bit of tweaking as it is 5 hours give or take (from Hereford to the endpoint I've marked in Llanberis). I recommend stopping off for coffee and cake at point 4 if you have time or need a drink and a comfort break.

EDIT: Add an extra hour or two if you plan on stopping off for the awesome sights along the way... 🤣 (y)

Let me know how you get on with plans.

I've got a freshly built box with a new gripper diff in it. Need to dig it out of storage but you're welcome to use it for the day.

I haven’t got to do a briefing online anywhere have I before hand?
I know all the normal briefing room stuff went out the window during/after covid.

Can’t remember seeing it on the email what the plan was for it and what time sighting laps etc start.

Also.. are we allowed to walk the track on the Friday night?

That’s very kind of you mate and a very generous offer.

Let me see how I get on over the weekend and whether I can hire a car for the day 👍

It’ll cost about the same as transporting my car there so at this point, makes more sense to hire something as the original plan was to drive the 172 up.

Anytime mate👍.

@SharkyUK can that route planner export to google maps or can it do live guiding when you're in the car? Looks like it could be just what we've been looking for for our road trips.

The system has two parts - the web app for plotting the routes, and the mobile satnav app for following them. I'm not sure what the pricing is like as I got a discounted lifetime premium membership thing for helping them out a year or two back.

Screenshot 2024-07-20 221411.png

I've used the mobile app a few times and it's great. I have loads of routes planned and they sync between the web and mobile devices. I just then activate a route on my mobile, press to start nav, and away I go. I haven't used the very latest version and it's supposed to be a lot better.

I'm happy to report that the Porker was returned to me today and it's ready for CSF duties.

Is anybody driving up through Wales on the Friday? I'll be leaving south Wales (late morning, leaving from north Newport/Pontypool area) and taking a steady drive up.

Also, does anybody use Millers CFS 10W60 fully synth oil? I have 5 litres of the stuff sitting here unopened. I will happily bring it with me. If nobody wants it, it will be thrown away as I expect it will soon reach the end of its shelf life.

Cheers!
Woop!

I'm travelling up cross country through Wales (or intending to) on the bike 😂

Might follow that route you made for @Sunglasses_Ron 👍

Ahh i see,ive just check on the street view and your right.Have to look into another route, thanks.
If I’ve got your map right you are heading over the Horse Shoe Pass at Llangollen (again a 40mph zone which can have cameras on) and into Ruthin. The Nant Y Garth into Ruthin is very good. But continue to Denbigh and head onto the A453 through Groes to Blychau (start of this will be an average camera but I think you only pass one camera when I didn’t the other week) then A544 to Llanfair Talhaiarn then A548 back down Llanwsrt, so like this

The section in blue is pretty good, I do a bit of a loop from home around there
