Cup in garage already shock!

  172, Tiguan

Hey all, dont panic....(yet)

Going in at lunch to have a few niggly things looked at. (Its only 2.5 days old- 200miles old)

a) pull in the fabric on the drivers seat

b) scratch in the glovebox front

Pointed these two out to the salesman.

c) rattle in the headligning, louder than normal rattles that i can put up with! Its just by the interior lights i think. - anybody else have this?

d) bloody steering wheels on crooked. Nothing major just really annoying.

Ive also noticed the clonk when it goes into 1st. Should i mention it? Or leave it and see how it develops?

cheers all! A pain, but expected it really!

bad news, :(.why do we have to put up with this??? It makes me so mad, the whole point of a new cars is trouble free motoring..gggrrrr  I know I keep on saying it but, NOTHING was wrong with my hubbys MG, NOTHING!, ZERO!, ZILCH! When will Renault ever learn?? rant over.....

Tell them about the gear clonk, may as well get it all sorted. Im not to sure what they can do about the drivers seat or the scratch??

good luck

Mine does it too, Also I think most of the cups have the same rattle, mine does and so did the one I test drove.

Also is the steering wheel always pointing to the right

a) get some leather/alcantara seats (only jk mate.. ;))

b) hmm if its on the door then I guess they can just replace that.

c) At least you have one individual one to concentrate on now..

d) they probably wanted to get a theme going in the car after they put on the Cup 172 badges lol..

Well yes its the glovebox door, so think they should replace it. As for the seat they can either take the cover off and give me a new one, or pull the loop of cotton - or whatever- back through!

Yes the steering wheel is pointing to the right. Its soo annoying!!!

As for the rattle i can make it stop if i press the headligning in a bit.

Im off on hols on Sunday and gonna be doing 2500 miles in two weeks, so ill see how the gearbox thing develops.

It took six kwick fit blokes and 2 visits to get my steering wheel sraight!!!! That was six months ago and its still spot on :)

Once you get all the teething troubles sorted it will be worth it. Mine is 6 weeks old now and Im just getting it sorted.

Steering wheel......they will have to redo the alignment as the wheel is on a non adjustable boss.

I know as mine was the same...tried to blame me for it as it had a slight bit of kerage on one of the wheels. After running out of teddies they gave in...but got there own back by scratching the bumper...t**sers!

Dont worry about the clonk...they all do it.

well been in and aparently theyve ordered all the cosmetic parts.

When it goes in theyll also do the rattle and steering wheel/alignment.

Mind the bloke that came out to the car with me thought it was a Cup112. Informed him that the stickers were on wonky.

oh dear....

The steering wheel points to the right on all 172/cups it how the set them up, you must ask when it goes in that you want the wheel straight,as the alignment will be ok and the wheel will still not be straight because they thinks its ok!!

My 1st gear doesnt clonk. Didnt on my mk2 either. Get them to sort it out. Its not on to supply new cars with so many faults.

Been here before, many times. Renault reputation is getting worse by every car they make. Bit like British Leyland in the 70s for those who may remember. Well I dont but I watch that comedy programme based in the 70s with that bloke from the Young ones.

Well aparently i delt with the new service manager yesterday (he now knows my name!!) He called me at work last night:

Has arranged for the car to go in and has provided me with a curtesy(sp?) car, apologizing that it wouldnt be a Cup! He has also ordered a new glovebox door and a new seat cover!

He has also assured me that the rattle will be sorted and theyd do the steering wheel.

He could tell I sounded shocked - usually i have to ring them 5 times- Aparently its his first week on the job having worked for Mercedes for years. So could this finally be good service from Reno? I think give it about a month, the guy will become totally demoralized and itll go back to how its always been......
