Cupra R splitter fitted to my 172

Well, I fitted my cupra r splitter today, pretty impressed with it.

I refuse to pay £150 for a splitter from renault and I prefer this one to the renault splitter.

You can't go wrong for £20 from the seat dealership.

Probably not to eveyones taste, but I really like it

Well, £20.72 to be exact, yeah I had to trim each side down by about 3 inch, and trim 2 bits in the centre of the splitter. After that, line it up and attach with some screws.

Its a bit fiddly, but definitely worth doing.

I'll have to get some better pics up, I took these with my phone, so there not very good.

I think it makes the car look more aggressive.

^ the splitter comes in matt black and yes it should fit the 1.2.

gonna get one for the Ibiza its a steal for 20 quid,

but the trophy needs a new splitter too, donno if it will suit.

Well, if your talking about the door pillars? I went to a printers shop and bought a roll of black vinyl. I prefer the car with the door pillars covered.

I went for a black textured vinyl, because I wanted it to look standard, like it should have been on the car from the factory.

I know this mod isn't going to be to everyones taste, but I like it, thats all that matters.

Its a bit of a fiddly job to be honest. Below is the way I did it:-

1. Got 3 sheet of A4 paper and taped them together.
2. Taped the sheets over the door pillar
3. Got a highlighter pen and marked out the lines of the door
4. Then once I had the shape drawn out, I cut it out leaving about a 1cm bleed, apart from the top and bottom.
5. Then I stuck the template to the back of the vinyl roll and marked, and cut out.
6. Then I stuck the vinyl on the door and tucked the excess behind the window rubber and back of the door.

To be honest, the vinyl was quite flexible.

When I did the other side, I used the same template.

Sorry Markyd50, I thought you were asking me a question about the door pillar.

The lip will need trimming either side, about 4 inches off each side, and there are 2 plastic bits in the centre that need trimming too. Then I just lined it up and attached with some screws.

Definately worth it for 20 squids! Not too sure about the center bit, but still its different

The centre bit is just like a normal one. The difference is the edges being angled downwards.

I think it looks great.
