Literally just got home lads. Had a nightmare of a day!!! But I'm taking the positives from it. Had a duff injector giving us issues! Is definitely that as swapped it to 3 of 4 cylinders and each one didn't change note when disconnecting it. Stuck in standard injectors... Voila absolutely c**k on. So instead of paying full price for mapping on standard injectors Chris just mapped me quickly as a get me home map then I'll be going back when I have fully working 630cc injectors. I've also got a horrible vibration, not just from stiff mounts but it's like driveshaft related or something as it's dreadful. Had to drive home at 50 mph all the way hence me getting home so late. Car will be back and will be mapped fully. Shame about the injectors though as they were bought new..

Just came on to read any updates
Shame it's not gone to plan
Take the positives from the day like said
Could have been a lot worse
Hope you sort the vibrate issue out

That's a shame mate, but atleast these problems have reared their heads now, rather than later down the line so you can sort it out properly.
Is the injector knackered electrical wise? As I know you have that cleaning rig, but if brand new you can surely get them replaced?
Think you'll trailer it there again?

@dann2707 back on track - This is what these sort of projects are about, the good news is, when it's fixed, you will appreciate it far more. It's all about the work gone into it etc

I'd say an injector is hugely minor in the scheme of all the work completed mate, so well done  Get yourself another set or maybe two lots to be safe, and get it back up there once you've tracked the vibration. Did you ever change the solid dogbone (potential cause?)

I'll drive it there next time I think but have to get the vibration sorted. Yes I think it is electrical wise as on the flow rig at efi it was showing to be okay. The company who I bought it off are asking me to send back so they can flow it to see if it's faulty... But I've already had it flowed and it flows well just not electrically stable so I'm going to be in uproar if it comes back as "ok" when it's not.

Thanks, they're £200 a set so not cheap to get really. Dogbone is still solid but it's a rotational vibration, it's fine up to 30mph then the whole car feels horrendous.

did the vibration not show itself on the dyno ?
Yes it did, Chris said it was actually hurting his feet on the accelerator pedal it was that bad. He was scared it was affecting the plates in the Dyno.

I'm a bit stuck now for a few months as I can't afford mapping again and Chris is fully booked up until end of June so it looks like I'll be sorting these issues for a bit first.

No cooling issues though which is nice.

You need to check driveshafts and clearance from the box to the chassis/subframe or anywhere else it could be tight mate. Is it on custom shafts?

Thanks for that, yeah it's on custom shafts.
I'm just very weary about how one side doesn't spin smoothly at all when jacked up. Ill try filming it tonight if I get chance. Maybe take the hub off too and see if spins freely without that compressing it.

@Mash. Did you have any issues like this when you had it? Were they made for a wider track car?

That's the issue mate. I'd near enough bet a months wages on it. Sounds like the shaft is bottoming out in the joint to me.

When it's jacked up, undo the bottom ball joint bolts and remove them. If it spins free - there's your problem.

Which side is it? You might get away with shifting the engine and box over to gain some clearance.

Nooo was fine was the gripper that was making the noise for me...

but I did run a roll centre kit -

Thanks you for the tip, I'll give that a go tonight. It was notchy on the drivers side iirc.

Hopefully your get it done 100% quickly and easily [emoji106]

How's your brakes and the pedal box working out ?

Thanks Adam, they feel OK. I'm running old pads and very old discs so it's not stopping me well atm!

Just found a video on my phone from a while back that I sent to Steven on here! Check this out you can see the notchyness quite clearly I think

Massive thanks to Alex White for diagnosing, removed hub nuts and moved driveshafts in and out. There's absolutely no play in driver side. None at all. But on pass there is 30mm play. Engine needs to shift over to the passenger side 15mm ideally which is easier said than done!!!!

Like Northloop is saying, that shaft is too long by the looks and the CV joints are fully compressed, I had a similar problem albeit not anywhere near as bad and had to change my n/s shaft for a shorter driveshaft when I fitted my lsd!

is the gearbox hard up against the chassis rail?
Not too much, it's fairly close though! I'm thinking also of the boost pipes and all the other hoses that will be quite tight.

Reckon loosening the engine mounts and pry barring it across might do it? How much play would be acceptable inwards towards box? Could chop a tad bit off but I'm risking having the passenger too far out?

Just had a read through nice job mate.

Welcome to the elite 1*2 F4RT+ND0 club.

Driveshaft wise when you remove it inspect the triple bearing as the symptoms your describing are the same as when it fails.

So, I'm pretttttty much fucked for the time being.

I thought maybe the driveshafts were installed incorrectly so tried swapping them. Absolutely no chance.

The engine won't move over at all due to it being such a tight fit as it is.

There doesn't seem to be enough spline for me to chop the shaft down on that side. Plus, the passenger may be out too much as it is. So ideally it's a custom driveshaft set.

I'm going to give up for a bit as I can't justify £360 on some custom shafts. I've spent farrrrrrr too much on the car as it is.

f**king sucks after getting this far.
