I cut mine bud and used a joiner the bolts to the bulk head and has step down to the same size for the race heater.

I randomly stumbled across it on eBay lol

Like that ^^^ eBay item number
. think mine was 18 or 19mm one side and 13mm the other side? Can't remember exactly.

I'm not running a heater at all atm so I've just looped my coolant system.

I can do mate, I guess i'm going to have to to get them on the race heater as those connectors are tiny! Do you have a link to where you go them from? I need to look under the bonnet and figure a length required / how easy it will be
I got the blanks from ktec they are forge hoses with forge turbo blanks I can not find them on there website but if you call them and tell them what you are doing they will be able to give you prices and sizes
Sorry I couldn't get the link mate but they will be able to sort you out

Cheers mate I'll look into it!

Just looking through footage now. Glad I caught this on camera! Knew I should have gotten matching rear tyres before the journey but to be fair in 800 miles that was the only slippery moment. Was fun

Don't tell lies now Daniel, we all know it was the hard setting on the ARB and your upgraded drop links, amazing you didn't go sideways into a tree like very says Haha

Now your all on the weight saving bandwagon - how you finding it? Much difference in performance?

Just a thought but have you got a lightweight battery, and relocated it to the boot? Something I'm thinking of doing and would definitely help your weight saving quest

I think it was the mismatched tyres, even on matched tyres that road was horrible ( im the blue one infront of dans car in the video)

@dann2707 Can you show me pics of your studs front and rear?

I want to see what they look like with your spacer setup and how much threads you have left.

I was originally thinking of getting hub spacers but now I'll probably just get 5mm rear wheel spacers as my wheels are wider now, and the PMS 15mm fronts.

In my mind 75mm studs are too small for the fronts so I'm thinking of getting 83mm for the fronts and 75mm for the rear. This will compensate the extra needed for the spacers.

Also, just clarify what spacers and offset wheels your running again please.

Definitely was the hard setting! Some say the car doesn't even go around corners on soft haha.

Yeah man I've actually noticed a huge difference. It's hard to explain though, it's more like the car feels way more nimble going around corners and now how it picks up.

It's funny because the next day after I did the big strip I drove to abis and was in traffic and was edging forward and doing my usual routine of tapping the throttle to move forward but this time it was like surging forward with a lot more force, like the car was ready to "go" if that makes sense? It will be because there is less mass to get moving from a standstill. Couldn't stop smiling after that journey!

Another bit I noticed was when we were camping - noticed such a difference when I dropped the camping stuff off at the campsite. But with the camping stuff in there that's nowhere near as heavy as the trimming and tar I had in there originally so if it makes that much of a difference there's so much more to come!

Are you tempted by it?

Hey man, yeah of course! I will take pics for you tonight after work.

My wheels are 25 offset (low as balls) and I'm running no spacers on the rear but 20mm ones on the front.

The studs I got were from eBay but I don't think they sell them anymore! I think @bashracing got his from eBay too but from a BMW. Get spare ones too!

But yeah I went for the smallest they do on the rear and the Middle ground ones on the front due to my spacers. It's worked out pretty evenly too!

And yeah James, was looking at lightweight batteries the other day. But it's an expense I'm trying to avoid now as it's digging in the holiday and Megane engine fund!

Easy saving of 6kg though!

Cheers Dan!

I will get mine off ebay as well as there very similar to the PMS ones at a over half price. Still high tensile and Allen key ends so I can't see why not.

BMW have the same stud/pitch of M12x1.5 so I'll just phone up and see if he can do 8 of 1 set and 8 of another.

I await your pics though. Jeez, et25?! That's low!

Awesome write up that Dan, Thanks for that buddy! Definitely considering, but I'll admit I won't take it as far as you

I'm just thinking interior mainly - carpets, sound deadening, plastics, etc

But for now I'll enjoy some more refinement whilst I can lol

As you said a lightweight battery is a decent saving, but I guess your at the point of dimishining returns now you've stripped the bulk of it out. I just like the idea of a bit of weight saving and getting some extra weight in the back instead of the front (relocating it in the boot) can only help in my eyes

@Dr Jekyll I've got the eBay studs Mark, with GT50 studs, and I did what you've said about running different length studs at the front and rear

I'll have to double check my stud lengths, but I think they're as you mentioned 83/75mm

I run 15mm spacers on the front, and 10mm rear axle hub spacers on the back (which obviously doesn't affect the stud length like a normal spacer

Jesus Dan, ET25 and 20mm spacers! I thought mine looked wide on the front but you've got an extra 15mm wider than me! Does it not scrub at all ok your B14's?

Once you start you can't stop! It's bad, like a disease.

Yeah the weight in the back/middle of the car would definitely help!

Apologies @Dr Jekyll I completely forgot to take pics for you this evening, I will tomorrow!

Tonight @Louis' kindly took me after work to ash silicone hoses place in Huddersfield to get my heater pipework.

We're on!

This week has been mainly cleaning peoples injectors and a few car bits. Nothing amazing as i'm waiting on SOOOOOOO many parts to arrive. Switches and carbon fibre for my centre panel,

I also started making the panel for my ESP and cruise control by cutting out the old heater vent on the drivers side

29194550216_008b1f3d41_b.jpg
20160823_172047 by dann2707, on Flickr

Got it in like that ready to be araldited in however i'm not happy with it, purely because it's not central and you can't get it further across due to the shape of it

So i'm going for carbon fibre on that panel too, with custom switches - watch this space

I fitted my blower

Tidied the dash up a bit, going to be relocating the ECU airbag etc

Tonight i've been identifying what does what on the switches and making a note of what the wires do. Pretty fun and very rewarding. Had to quickly dash out to my car with a button switch to make sure its doing what I think it is. IT IS

This is also how i'm mounting my switches. I've gone for these sexy switches but they're pretty costly but I really wanted black toggle switches and all the same style.

R8200510-01.jpg

The top panel is going to consist of hazards, USB and aux input

Bottom panel will be:

Top - door lock, heated rear screen
Bottom - pass window, heater, cooler, driver window.

It's a multitude of (on) OFF (on) and on off on switches, coupled with a few MOM/off switches for good measure all depicted by the each type of switch I have in here.

Ignore that third blue button that was gonna be for my hazards but ive moved that to the top panel now.

@dann2707 good progress! Defo going to be copying the idea for the drop links.
Quick question about the rear loom wire tuck, did you find the earth cable from the fuel pump turned 90* and ran along the rear light cluster loom? Did you undo the tape and run it separately?

Should be good this.

P.S. Still need to send you them injectors

Cheers :) Yes you do buddy!

Every time I check back on your thread I'm just left thinking, such an engineer!! Haha, in a good way of course. And those switches, it's basically a koenigsegg!!

Haha thank you very much. I think that was a compliment

I also received my switches from RS so started wiring them up. These have to be DPDT as that's how the window operates. Basically when you flick the switch up and down it reverses the polarity of the wires to the motor which either goes up or down.

Also forgot to say. My alternator light came on on Saturday, sourced a new one sunday and fitted it 30 mins later. Light off and the battery is being charged again. Was a crazy fast turnaround haha. It's very very easy to change once the bumper is off. I should have done a guide actually! Maybe if this goes again haha

Thanks x
