Its been a while since I've been on here, so please excuse the large post! Some of you may know me and possibly remember my old non-sport. My names Darius and I live Coventry!

Rewind to December 2014, Im bored of the 1.2, Im sick of the power and Im jealous of @Loz H and @Ging2013 moving on to sports. @AlexW has a 182 for sale, so I get an insurance quote and being 18 - they basically tell me to royally go and F**K myself. After weeks of checking the comparison sites etc, I eventually get a reasonable quote. £1850 iirc for 10 Months with a £1350 Excess and a Black Box... I got to see the car and I agree to buy it. £1550 on 73K, Belts & Dephaser just done. Completely Standard.
Upon Viewing...100% Standard Non-Cup Model

Let the improvements begin..!
Due to insurance transfer issues I couldnt pick up the car for a while so I left it with @AlexW for a few weeks, and left him with a lot of parts to fit for me, he was really helpful with it all! It had the following done before I even drove it for the first time lol...

Leather/Alcantara Recaros
Snappy Retrimmed Steering Wheel
CookSport Springs
LED Dash Conversion to white/blue
Decat
Scorpion RS192 Non Res
Replacement Front Bumper, Rear Bumper, Side Strips, Mirror Caps and Side skirt from a breaking 182 as mine where a bit tatty

Turinis
Whilst he cracked on with that, I refurbished some Turinis ready to go on with some brand new UniRoyal RainSport 3 Tyres (Rate them!)

Back Home

Finally I managed to get the car home and this is how it looked with the above parts all fitted by Alex. It was safe to say the car was pretty loud with decat and no centre silencer lol, really enjoyed the drive home, it felt really solid to drive.

This was also carried out by Alex and looks way better in person. You can also see the new Pioneer stereo I bought just to match the conversion

Finished for the day...
A few other mods were completed including fitting a Cup Spoiler and Wind Deflectors, spraying grill satin black, carbon washer blanks and fitting carbon dipped dashstrips, and then it was out to get some photos. I think we can all agree its really starting to turn round. Within half of week of bringing it home lol

Engine
Ive done a tiny amount of engine bay tidying up so far which includes, Sprayed Engine Cover, Powder-Coated upper inlet, Samco hose, ASH hose and RAMAIR Filter IK setup, coolant flush and new coolant bottle, battery cover (not fitted here)... Ive also replaced the dogbone mount for a Polybushed item and replaced the left and lower engine mount for new OEM ones. Ive had to replace all 4 injectors and the throttle body for a destructive misfire issue too.

Rolling Road Day
Took it on the rolling road and it made 176.76BHP At the Fly. No map on the car yet. Also I eventually got my private plate on and you can see the newer 197 style RS Badge on the back I bought.

And..... Thats it so far! January to March done lol.... Comments/Criticismå welcomed!

Looks sweet! How you going to get on with the box on track though?

How much did the mats set you back also?
'It doesnt monitor speed' supposedly but luckily A) its on private land (a track) so doesnt matter and B) the box is only for 3 months so comes out next month.

They were £18 from Renaults eBay. Theyve stopped selling them now.

Looks smart but that's a lot of money to insure! And that excess!!? Hope you've insured those mods as well.

Another great job on your new car
Look forward to more updates

Shed

Welcome back!

Cheers guys! Yeah insurance is a bit expensive when it comes to the mods, which I guess is why its so much that and me being 18 - but lets not turn this into an insurance debate especially as i was paying only £200 less on the 1.2 :)

Very nice :)

I'm glad I'm old, and pay about 50p for insurance these days. But when you can pick up a 182 for so little, who cares about the insurance tbh

Ah fair play then mate It's a great looking car, really like the LED dash! For £200 Im not surprised you've gone for the 182

Brakes
As my first Track Day edges closer I've purchased some new brakes that should be better than standard from George@RTR Parts (great guy to deal with by the way, quick delivery, very helpful and good prices. Brembo HC Discs and Ferodo Racing DS2500 Pads

More Parts Fitted....!
On Saturday I went down to a local fellow 182 owners house who helped me to fit New 172 cup shocks all round, a good job too as when we pulled them shocks off a rear was leaking and a front was also leaking! They feel more stiff but not had a chance to really mess about in the car.
17211298225_fcc19b03d2.webp

On sunday went up to @AlexW - New Ferodo Racing DS2500 Pads and Brembo HC Discs from george @ RTR. 2 New Handbrake Cables, and sorted an LED that wouldnt come on in the Speedo.

I decided to drive up to Alexs with the Track Wheels on the bad news is despite the Tyre Fitters best efforts the rear 2 alloys are scrap each wheel has 240g (iirc) of weight to attempt to even them out (4 strips of weights) however they are so buckled, they vibrate and seriously effect the handling at 60MPH plus so I'm unsure what to do now. I have my first track day on May 10th so will most likely keep them for this and chuck them in the bin.

Remap
Put the RS Tuner 98 RON map on the other week, I'm really enjoying the behaviour from cold more than anything, car is a lot less shakey from cold and the throttle is more responsive lower down in the rev range, deffo recommend it!

Track...!
Took the car to a Clio owners weekend at Blyton Park and I didnt even make it to the track 😧 broke down about 5 miles outside the circuit, alternator bolt was missing (poss rattled loose), and then the other bolts mounting on the alternator snapped, leaving it loose in the car, and the belt slipped off. Luckily the belt was OK and no other damage bar alternator, Chip came and trailered me back to Blyton and proceeded to strip down my car with Alex Whites help and then he and Alex drove an hour each way back to his house to get me his spare alternator (much love!) Alex fitted it and all was good. Did about 4 sessions on the Sunday up til 12:30 and the clutch gave in out on track:worried: below are some pictures from the track, its currently with @Fred@BTM

Hi mate can I ask what website or company you went with for insurance as I can't get a price lower then £1100 for a 1.2 8v Clio :( I'm 21

Car looks awesome mate, must be great to have it at only 18.
I'm hopefully going to upgrade to a 172 when I'm 18 in November. What did the box actually measure and was it much hassle to have it fitted ?
Cheers

Ahh so much has happened since I last updated this thread... So I finished Blyton Park with a f**cked clutch and a smashed carbon splitter back in May.

I put some hellashit black wrap on the front and rear, black badge and an ibiza cupra splitter along with some OZ Superleggeras on and went to FCS...
