dci 65 or petrol 75?

  Fiesta Silver Limited Ed.
Got a 1.216v at the moment, theres a garage near me with a 1.5dci 65bhp model exactly the same but a year newer but with more mileage so not alot of money for me to put up to p/x....havent driven it yet....would like a diesel as im doing around 375 miles a week.

opinions?

65, had one for 2 years, 50mpg all day long, £35 tax a year, not one problem with ours. Nippy and went well.

dci80 if you really want to change also it will be a handle a remap better

They'll both handle them, just the 80 will end up with more power.

I'd take a DCI over any non-sport Clio, but going from a non-sport clio.. You have to ask is it worth the change.

The dci 80 is about 1.6 pace without a map. Completely different car with a map though.

DCI65 is noticably slower than the 80 in a straight line, but I'm pretty certain it's quicker than a 1.2.

given the choices you have given. dci 65 is much more driveable imo. feels quicker due to torque, Cheaper on fuel and tax, plus will be worth more when it comes to sell.

Lol at all the comments regarding remaps.

I dont think thats what he's interested in, he just wants to know if doing nearly 400 miles a week this is a better bet for him.

The answer is yes.

I had a dci 65 for 3 months and did 10k in it, only issue I had was the seat poistion when you start to do high miles in them. It wrecked my back... Didnt miss a beat though.

Used to comfortbaly achieve 55-60mpg. Even had it sideways down the M40, but thats another story;) lol

is it b****cks!

Got anything that says otherwise ?

I've tested mine countless times against the 1.6 16v, everytime mine was a bit quicker to get going (overtaking or coming off a roundabout etc). But the 1.6 was better top end.

Remapped and the 1.6 gets left behind quite easily. And you might say, why buy a slow car to remap it.. That's not the point, you can't get a DCI 110, you can get a 100, but when I was searching for a Clio they were like gold dust, went for quite a premium too. So for £300 to transform the car, you'd have to be insane not to see the benefit.

I'd take the dci every time personaly.
thanks, wa about basic power without a re-map ?
Stock power fine all the comments about remaps are unnessessary realy stock powers fine and I woulnd' remap due to the cost of bits when they break on these engines when mapped poorly.
80 will map better due to having an intercooler iirc?
And bigger injectors and turbo is slight different abeitly not by much.

It not far at all behind my 65 is n't far off 1.4 16V pace.

Each to there won though i woulnd't map one.

If you remember I had a couple of problems with mine, so no. I'd prefer to stick with complete reliability at 100% load for 400 mile journeys than have it faster.

But I think mine is an exception, so for most people it'd be fine.

There's a Superchip dealer in Birmingham though that will do me a silly cheap deal, I might let him have a go next time I'm up that way just to see if it was the map I had on before.

if you like driving SOHC's and dont mind the piss poor rev range, although imho 5k after a remap isnt too bad, then go for the diesel.

the dci far overlooks the 1.2 16v, problem-less and good mpg, people claim to have had 700 miles for £40 worth of diesel.

Gotta be the dci im afraid. Personaly id ge the 100 and give it a remap, add a big intercooler on the front, decat and a pannel filter, or an IK if its a good one, and youve got a good car, even after all that itll prolly still do 50mpg+

What has the amount of cams got to do with it? The rev range is better than a 172 or 182 though and more use.

Stock 100 intercooler big enough no point chnaging unless you changing turbo..

Stock for stock or even modified I'd take a 80 though for the gearbox alone.

saw a good example of a 100 on autotrader - links below http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...CARS&make=&model=&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=

with a p/x only got around £2500 to play with assuming i get around £2700 for mine, stilll heard the gear box in the 100 isn't up for much.....with regards to a remap, sounds very interesting but not really the road im looking to take to be honest, thinking of this purely for long distance commuting purposes.....

thanks for the advice

Purely for commuting the 65 or 80 is what you're after.

The 65 makes more sense because it's cheaper, although the 80 is a bit faster and more economical.

if its just motorway cruising you will be doing, you'll get 65pmg in a dci65, maybe slightly less in an 80, but then they are slightly quicker
