In 8 months time it could be awesome or i coudlve burnt it.

I actually have a list of plans mounting up now, things that are new to me so I might just keep interested in this one for abit longer.

Re: dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg

Today I was supposed to be sleeping/resting before I fly to France tonight for a week on the slopes.

Instead I pottered about playing with cars, got some 20mm M.A.D spacers from someone Russ Rallye. I didnt really want them as you I read you couldnt use the standard wheel bolts but after nothing else came up I ended up buying them. Im too tight to buy them new these days!

Fitted. One of my next jobs is to change the discs to some brembo HC, fit my mintex m1155 pads, fit my black calipers and braided lines. But that can wait.
IMG_3919.jpg

Much better after being fitted, has to be said I cant tell the difference to the 25mm spacers Ive had previously but Im glad I jumped on Dr Jekyll 's 20mm spacer band wagon ;)
IMG_3924.jpg

IMG_3925.jpg

I also raised the back up 5mm more again.
IMG_3926.jpg

Then I got carried away playing with the camera.
IMG_3940.jpg

IMG_3946.jpg

I then started pulling a few bits off the silver ph1 that I wanted to keep,

Rear Beam
IMG_3947.jpg

Subframe
IMG_3948.jpg

I also got some more parts, AST top mounts and cup wishbones. Going to add a bit of castor up front!!
IMG_3951.jpg

And finally the silver car is ready to be scrapped, Ive removed pretty much everything of value from the car now. Needless to say the black ph1 doesnt owe me much money now ;) This has been the easiest car to break yet, I havent even done a breaking thread!
IMG_3950.jpg

After talking to AlexW recently Ive decided to go down the route of converting to EPAS. So the plan will be fit new rack to spare subframe, powerflex bush's all round on the subframe, fit cup wishbones to subframe. All new inner/outer tie rods and rack bushes (unsure how the DCI rack is mounted).

Im conisidering getting the PMS stiffener kit and welding that on to the rear beam and refreshing the bushes whilst im there.

Im tempted to get the subframe/rear beam powder coated too, unsure if thats a step to far for me!

The EPAS will also mean the aircon will be going, which is no suprise considering past projects.

Re: dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg

My other set of F1's have also been fitted with 2 new pilot sport 3's and are ready to go to Tom-173 in the next few weeks to be refurbed in a nice bright silver :)

  Many.
Re: dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg

Banging! Got the subframe off in the end alright then?

The DCi etc rack is solid mounted standard, no expensive bushes! Get some Powerflex rear beam bushes while you're there too.

EPAS conversion will be good, Focus on subframe/aircon/PAS removal first though!

Powdercoat is nice, but I reckon it'll soon look s**t with use, Stick up a thread.

Re: dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg

Yeh hack-sawed the bolts off, the back dropped and they were sitting funny should of just done that from the start lol.

Yeh I will get the power flex rear beam bushes, thinking of getting some 182 stub axles as apparently they are 5mm wider, no need for my spacers then!

No rush on anything really, still got the ph2 interior to fit too.

Also probs doing the snetterton evening on the 28th May, rude not too for £70.

It looks spot on mate. OEM+ ftw. The 20mm spacers have a little tuck which looks like it should do as standard whereas the 25mm look to flush with the bumper an a bit too much. So have you got shorter wheel bolts for the fronts?

Silver wheels will looks smart too :)

cheers! I agree with that. Nope I'm using the hex bolts that come with the spacers, then standard bolts into that!
Ideally I'd like to fit a stud kit to it as the bolts look s**t & I like studs.

Should look rather oem with silver wheels & badges on it, still an utter shed though

20mm spacers ftw.
Agree'd!

Good to hear mate! I got the shorter bolts off demon tweeks (8x m12x1.5x22mm with 60degree taper) and cost me £15. I did however get them with a 17mm head and not 19mm head. Not sure if they do 19mm head as I wasn't paying attention when I ordered them. However your going studs so it shouldn't matter.

Its a loveable shed though :) Looking at your pics, I think I'm going to raise mine up a bit more on the rear.

Re: dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg

I'm confused why you need shorter bolts? I thought you meant to hold the spacer on, or am I confusing myself!

Your rear is low! And you said I was the one running silly lows ;) yours not rub with 10mm spacers? Mine was rubbing with my 5mm's but the federals are pretty wide tyre it seems.

The front of mine needs to come down a tad IMO, it's handling pretty well like this though :)

You need shorter wheel bolts I believe, not shorter spacer bolts as the standard bolts hit the spacer. Even on the H&R's that I ordered it recommended them. Standard wheel bolt thread length is 26mm.

Yeah I know I'm low  Too low really. When you come back from France I'll be raised up ;)

No I have no rubbing issues whatsoever, front or rear :) I've got exaltos on mine.

Oh, well they tightened up fine on mine and the wheel is tight. I'll double check in a minute though as I'm worried now lol!!

Just raise the back up, that's all it needs! Every clio I has seems to have rubbing issues & sticky throttles lol

Just my luck !

Get a new throttle cable for the sticky throttle, Marks is brilliant now compared to what it was!

With the spacers, can find they hit the hub before going fully tight. Way to test is to remove wheel and spacer, and then bolt the wheel to the spacer, tight and see if the bolts stick through the spacers at all.

Mine hit the hub but only on two bolts per wheel, when i did my wheel bolts up they just didn't feel right.

I took my bolts to work and took about 2mm off of each bolt on the lathe, felt rock solid after that when doing them up.

Think a new throttle cable is £25-£30. That's what I paid from my local renault dealership. Feels so much better now.

Re: dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg

I has new cable just hanging in the garage, I was just saying every clio I have seems to suffer sticky throttles or rubbing. My throttle is fine, plus I have 5+ throttle body's & 10+ icv's. Hard to come by ;)

my wheel bolts felt fine, I'll double check when I'm back from hols :) cheers for the advice though guys.

await my thread saying my wheel fell off on the m25, I shouldn't joke !

This may work.....

With the engine off you turn the ignition on and off twice and then lock the car. Should beep a few times to say the sensors are disarmed and you should be okay.

I need to try and rememebr this.

Otherwise, as I said Dan, Unplug the siren, if it doesn't fire up, let me know and I'll pop over sometime and fix/disconnect it. It probs need the sensitivity turning down on the alarm, or a wiring fault, worst case it'll be the control unit.

I had this and mine turned out to be the bonnet alarm sensor. Does the immobiliser flash constant?

What beep does it do when you unarm it. That's how you tell what got set off

Rather not pull it about if I can just turn it off, never had a working clio alarm before so it baffles me.

It made several beeps when I tried this, will try setting it off tomorrow and see if ive stopped the sensors. Cheers! :)

You can adjust something as I was looking at the silver ones alarm/wiring today. Youll soon no if i break it lol

Bonnet sensor is unplugged, light flashes every other second or so I guess.

3 beeps I think, its made the same noise every time Ive got back into the car the past week.

Re: dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg

Alarm appears to not be going off now! Sat in it waving my arms about it wouldnt go off :)

As progress goes;
Horn stopped working
I changed a blown bulb
Changed the speedo sensor
Wheels being refurbed this week

Having some down time from playing with clios, no this doesnt mean im going to break it for parts ;)

You need to find out from the beeps or flashes what is causing it .. when i had it, the drivers door switch had a hissy fit for a while.

No point turning the interior sensors off if the alarm thinks the boot is opening......

Picked my wheels up from Tom-173 today, they look amazingly fresh! Weather permitting they will be going on the car tomorrow.
