Dogbone Mount bushes....Talk to me.

The time has come to replace the Dog bone mount bushes on my 182.
I have done a search, however:

I keep hearing people say Ktec ones are the future, then others saying powerflex ones. Also that there are 2x powerflex options (one is possibly a modified kit?)

And to top it off, i have now read that a standard mount/bushes is fine. But to twist one of the bushes 180 degrees.

Opinions on whats best, and who to purchase them from.

Am i right in saying there is an updated kit ? Something to do with washers ?

However if this is the one to get Kam Racing get my bussines.

I just replaced my dog bone with a standard reno item... imo, i wish I hadnt bothered and got a polybush one instead (ktec etc)

You will get a vibration more than normal with them. Trust me. Had a set on my old Cup.

I got the powerflex bushes, made a such a difference no knocking at all.

The car does however vibrate a lot!!

mine was (and is) fine as soon as it was fitted. someone on here recently asked which way up the gearbox end of the mount should go - possible that some have it on the wrong way up (?), which i can see promoting vibration

surely its just the same as the old one, the larger part of the bush goes to the top, thats what my old one was like and also the new powerflex and i have got vibration.

it's just a guess incase anyone has it t'other way round. there's a collar on one of the poly halves at the g/box end & i think that should be at the bottom, with the alloy sitting ontop - leaves a longer length of poly between alloy&box, which the alloy won't move up as it compresses and balloons out. if the alloy's too close the box, there's less poly exposed to be dampening the vibes

probably also worth slackening all of the other mounts and shufting the unit about so it's sat square and there's no more tension in certain mounts than others (easier if you're doing them all at once, as i did)

So does anyone actually know (fact's required here, not guessing) Which way the bushes should be mounted ? As there would appear to be confussion on this.

DUH? It seems pretty stright forward to me, the only thing is that when you remove the dogbone you could not get that the "metal lips" has to be removed too, we used a press.
Oh, and watch out for the two metal cilinders, they haven't got the same hole diameter.

Think ktec ones are powerflex ones mate .

Try the 90degree twist i put the post up about first mate it costs nothing (you can still order the uprated ones if you dont think it improves it )
you find that the vibration on idle on the uprated ones is not really what you want in a road car I did .

Thats great it appears pretty straight forward to you.

However there appears to be confussion regarding which way the bushes fit. And possible vibration issues, caused because of this.

I guess ordering some maybe the way forward, and having a look once they arrive.

^ its simple,

You get one big bush that splits into two pieces, and a metal long sleeve which goes through the both, thats for the subframe side,

The one bolted to the gearbox is the same, one big part one small part and a sleeve goes through both. Now the big part goes on top, and sits half way in the mount, then on the underside fit the small part and then push the metal sleeve through, and put washers on each side and bolt it on.

Not sure dude. Mine was brand new when I fitted it. Admittedly it did vibrate a little for about a day but it stopped after a day or two. I can only presume it was 'bedded in' or something! Definately worth the money though. No crunching into 3rd at high speeds any more, just goes straight into every gear.

looking at KAM's link above, you've got the two smaller bushes either side of the photo - the taller 'half' goes between gearbox and alloy arm, and the shorter one goes between the alloy arm and the bolt. otherwise it'll vibrate

the supplied washers go either side of these

make sure the whole unit is sat square

have a cup of tea; happy days
ed. typing too slowly

heres a quick pick i had from before,

Right hand side of the mount there connects to the box, then the bolt goes from left side through it into the box and bolts on. you need a washer on each side to keep them in place,

I am fine with fitting the bushes. What i am trying to get to the bottom of is....

Are people fitting them all the same way, or making tweaks to stop the vibration ?

I just want to add, as ive fitted mine. I found that the smaller bush's metal insert was not the same height as the bush when fitted together in the mount. This would result in the bush being squashed when doing up the bolt which I thought was unnecessary. So I found a washer with the right dimentions to fit inside of the bush and on top of the metal part to bring it to the right height, then bolt it on without the larger washers supplied as they seemed a bit pointless seeing as the gear box strap and the gear box itself will hold everything together. How has everyone else fitted theirs?

Just an observation.

Also, vibration on idle isnt as bad as I thought it would be tbh.

Yeah I know but it didnt seem 'right' seeing as the original renault bush didnt, if you know what I mean.
