I bet mate!! Should look great. Get some pics up when they arrive and are fitted.

Are they et38 or et43?

They are et43, going for Pilot sport 3's as I have some OZ F1's with R888's on for track days. I know it won't sit as sweet as yours but fingers crossed they won't look totally lost in the arches.

No none at the moment, I guess it's just a case of fine fettling with it. Recommendations on best front and rear type spacers to use??

It's not necessarily better with wheels, it's more what you prefer.

Me personally I prefer the stud and nut type. I take my wheels off a lot and I find it easier as you just remove the nut and the wheel still stays in place on the studs. But some prefer bolts and the look of them.

But seen as your running bolts now, then I would go with 20mm front spacers and 10mm rear hub spacers. And I would also go for a bolt to hub type. In fact, I had H&R 20mm spacers on my old ph1 and I would recommend those (DRA+). They are well made, lightweight and have steel inserts for added strengh and being a bolt to hub type, means you still get to keep your existing bolts.

10mm rear hub spacers will be great as they push the wheel out nice and is a nice size. You can always add a 5mm wheel spacer if you want a bit more out but even with both, you can still use your existing wheel bolts. The H&R's aren't cheap at around £100 but they are worth the money.

If you decide to get hub centric, non bolt to hub type, then you would need longer bolts to suit the added spacer size.

Top advice bud, i really do appreciate it. My wheels should be through within 10 days so will get them on the standard cup shocks, cook springs and I'll get some photos up. H&R looks good quality in all fairness.
Would love to see your car in the flesh one day soon!

This car is awesome! Loving the updates, I'm glad I'm not the only one with problems when coming to fit new/uprated parts, there is always something that goes wrong or a clip snaps ha!
Keep up the good work :)

Haven't updated this in a while. Not a lot has happened tbh apart from a lot of picture taking!

So as the car is a daily, i braved the weather when we had the beast from the east storm. AD08R's in the snow aren't that bad. Rule is, don't drive like a knobhead and you'll be reet!

Of course i grabbed a few pics during the cold season!

One thing that's bugged me for a while was the ph1 indicator stalk i had, had worn away on some of the symbols. These tend to go for around £25 now for a sport one. I managed to get a non sport ph1 stalk off ebay, in better condition, for £7! This one was from a non sport and the only difference is it doesn't have front fog light switch, which suits me as i've removed mine anyway.

I treated myself to a new (2nd hand) camera so over the last few months ive taken various snaps of the RB. These are some of my recent favourites, with the new camera and my other one.

I have decided i need the speedline decals back. I spoke to the chap who i bought them from (Baz Thorn/Speedline distributor) nd i've ordered 8x genuine decals in blue so i can go back to the original look again.

Now the car is not mint. The pics make it look better than it is. Its just ticked over 126k and while the bodywork is in decent condition for its age and mileage, it does need some attention. I noticed a few months back that i've developed a little bit of bubbling on the rear arch. I know the car has had a repair at some stage in its life as the rear quarter and bumper has been repainted and not the best either. Rather orange peely and in some lights, the bumper is brighter. I must admit, its never bothered me that much, however this will now be addressed as i want to remove the bubbling paint and kill it before it gets worse.

41768834542_43363407bd_z.jpg

The near side has a small amount too but it was hard to picture as it really is small.

41768831702_3051b75bff_z.jpg

So having a paint booth at work and having guys that are good at what they do, one is doing the repairs for me as i dont know bodywork, apart from the basics. I will hopefully be getting the bubbling removed this weekend. We have spoke about painting both bumpers too but will will do that at a later date and just concentrate on the repair work for the time being.

When the bumpers get repainted, i will buy a new fabia splitter and rear number plate light so its all fresh. I also managed to pick up a renault tunepoint. This enables you to have a usb stick that can go into the original head unit and replaces the cd changer. I still had original head unit and wanted to get rid of the Pioneer one i had for a more oe look.

Ive velcro'd the tunepoint under the glove compartment so its all hidden. Yes the original head unit is manky, it suffers from the tackiness from the soft touch film the sports have, but i will swap the face for a non sport one as i believe the face is a straight swap.

26986648767_ded7ca7068_z.jpg

The old head unit and extras are for sale here if anybody is interested:

https://www.cliosport.net/threads/pioneer-head-unit-and-all-leads-extras.818182/

Also I've recently joined instagram (couple of months ago) so if you want to see more pics of the RB amongst other things then the user name is: drj_182 (shameful plug in!)

That's all for now.

Mark.

Shame about the quarters. Have been done before but hey it’s an old car and you will make it look like new I’m sure :)

Yeah it is and it isn't. I've always been honest about it having paintwork in some form of it's life. Fortunately it can be fixed. Let's be honest, I'd imagine most cars of this mileage have had some form of bodywork in the past.

Being used as a daily, I'm not going to get every panel done. I'm not chasing for a mint car, just a clean one. Once these parts are dome and both bumpers are repainted, I'll be happy.

Great photos mate! Should be good when the paintwork is corrected etc as described above - regards the stereo, this now makes sense lol, when I saw on fb you were selling the aftermarket unit this did raise a question mark. The photo of the tunepoint removes said question mark! Lovely bit of oem there while still being able to listen to the more modern USB ting!

(Says he who only has a CD/radio Alpine!)

Love an OE stereo me, part of me wants an aftermarket one but it'd annoy the hell out of me not having it on the screen where it should be & possibly not having working wheel controls!

Damn I love that V6 spoiler too

I deeply, deeply love this car. It just looks so right.

Thanks mate, that's a proper nice comment to read ?

Awesome photos as usual mate! Just love how clean the engine bay always looks

Thanks mate. I think I'm getting better at the pics. I do think just a little paint definitely tidies up the engine bay ?

Great photos as ever. Car looks spot on, especially for a daily driver.

Thanks mate. Sometimes it's hard to keep the white 2118s clean and I do sometimes think that maybe anthracite would be better for the daily drive but I feel that white wheels is this cars identity.

He doesn't fancy doing my paint work does he mate!?

I'll be honest Steve, this is a favour for me. Chris might want to do a PJ, but I know Will doesn't particularly like doing them.

Yeah I'm hoping so mate. It's never going to be a minter, more a used car that's trying to keep clean the best I can. I'm not into detailing so it's all hand cleaned.

Regarding the Tunepoint, they was like gold dust at one point. I gave my old one away. This is why I kept the original head unit, just in case one turned up. Oddly enough, there was a few for sale when I bought this one. If I can find the thread (on the Facebook group but can't remember which one) I'll tag you in it.

Always interesting updates.

I plan on copying the Renault Tunepoint...

Do it mate. As above, there was a few going for sale recently.

It just gives you more music option rather than 6x CD of the changer. My USB stick has about 2000 songs or so, so I got plenty to choose from while retaining the OE look.

Defo tractor broom damage :)

Haha you fool. I don't use the brush, I'm a bucket a sponge man!

Love this picture...

Well with that patch lead, it gives you the stalk control so you can retain that. Instead of track 1, 2, etc, it just used to say Renault. But the track listing was on the head unit anyway. Certainly a must have if you ever fit an aftermarket unit.

Regarding the spoiler, it came with the car. It's not a genuine one and at first I was unsure I actually liked it. I contemplated changing it for a cup one, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. It's for keeps now as I think it suits the car.

Yes I saw that Toby, and I liked what you put up too so I followed you back!

In other news, we attacked the arches today and I'm happy to say that it's turned out to be surface rust. We pulled the sills off and there is no rust on there either.

So far the car has had the arches and fuel area sanded down and primered. We plan to stay after work and get the arches, fuel area and possibly rear bumper painted tomorrow.

All is not good though. I think my exhaust is slowly giving up the ghost. It's a cheap system that came with the car. Its not the best made and its cracked in the center section before, however this time I've found another crack on the tailpipe. Its 2.25 bore and I actually like the sound of it. It's not intrusive at all and has served me well over the last 2 years but I think it's slowly dying. I don't think it needs changing just yet so it can wait for a while but in my head I had a list of things I want to do to the Clio this year and this has clarified that it's one of them.

Will upload more pics/progress this weekend hopefully.

A pleasure. If I could own any car off the forum, this one would be right up there

Thank you very much mate. That's a real moral booster. Nice to see that being written/spoke about as there's plenty of nice cars on here.

As I've always said, it's not a minter and mileage isn't low (as such) so it since to see people love the car for what it is.

No worries mate,do another little road trip soon when your up for it now the weather is starting to get better.

Yes mate. I think we'll have to forward plan it as I seem to be busy all the time! But I am up for it it ?

Thanks Jamie ?

More updates and many pics.

So i got the RB in work to start the paintwork. We decided that seen as the bodywork was in good condition barring the issue, it didn't need filler work. What we did was grind out all the rust, primered the area and blended it in. Sounds a bit half arsed but i didn't want to do extra work if it wasn't needed. I'm not going for a show queen car, i just want the rust gone before we have anymore issues. Ill be honest, i cant even tell where the rust was before or even where its been blended so im happy with that.

We finished around 12pm friday night and decided to leave it until sunday morning before we fitted it up. No pics of that process but i got a shot after it was all back together outside the workshop. We had a mk1 escort in and i thought this was a cool shot.

40128285730_6be8801909_z.jpg

Its not been flatted or polished yet. Although its a colour match, it does seem a tad darker compared to the door. i'm hoping that its just against faded light on the old panels and with a decent flat and polish and a polish of the other panels, it'll be sweet.

I bought a 2nd hand non sport stereo to it. Mine was sticky as hell so i gave it a good scrub to remove the stickiness, which worked but it looked s**t, which i knew it would. This didnt bother me as i knew the replacement would only be a few days before it arrived.

41370244424_cb38b4891f_z.jpg

Non sport head unit arrived.

28216749198_5478c95d0b_z.jpg

I read that non sport head units dont work in sports, but the faces are the same so thats what i bought it for. So i removed the old one, got them on the bench and swapped over the faces.

28216742988_fff7eaa694_z.jpg

41370272474_ff8bed59bd_z.jpg

And fitted. No more stickiness and it matches the rest of the non sport stuff ive swapped over too.

41189321475_08f02d9907_z.jpg

41370260774_f55d5198ee_z.jpg

All that was left to do was the climate control panel. Although i had a non sport, as you can see it was black and i wanted grey.

I had leftover paint so im going to get my front bumper done as it has chips and scuffs all over. I bought a new fabia splitter to fit when its been painted. Annoyingly my current was fitted by someone else and they fitted it from the end, so one end is a nice finish and the other end is cut. The new one will be fitted from the center outwards and cut either ends.

41370256594_59de62947c_z.jpg

I also bought a new number plate light to replace the old one. TBF the old one wasnt that bad but i got excited because i had new paintwork. I've yet to fit this.

27219817157_916aa48e87_z.jpg

And i treated the RB to the best of the smellies.

41370437524_33cbd55782_z.jpg

My old parcel shelf rattled. Not sure where, but the fitting was never great, even with the foam strip mod. I managed to find one for sale on here from @edwarj123 and fitted it. Fits a treat and no more rattles. Well its a renault, so it just means one less rattle!

40421359180_e4fd675669_z.jpg

I also wanted to order some new brakes as i wasn't getting the performance i liked out of my old ones. I wanted to get rid of the Pagid road pads i had, but didn't want to fork out for new DS2500's at £130, plus i've had them before so wanted to try something different. Contemplated PBS pads but they were more track focused and being a daily on white wheels, id like something that gives off less dust, so i opted for Mintex M1144's. My discs have never been changed in my ownership so i wanted new discs too while doing the pads so i got some trusty Brembo HC discs. The rear discs was only replaced last year so i just bought pads for the rear. While i was ordering, i though it was best to change the lambda sensor as the eml light kept coming on. I ran a decat and have the sensor in the heat shield and every now and again, the light comes on for a day or 2 and then goes, but this was on permanently. My little ODB reader clarified it was the post cat sensor. A quick message to the trusty @George@RTR_Parts and all of the above was ordered. As always, the service was spot on both in advice and price and the delivery was prompt. He has a great reputation and i've used him for year and i would preach if you haven't already, to do the same if you require brakes, sensor or powerflex stuff ?

41507073374_d6296df798_z.jpg

My exhaust was souning terrible and i needed one sooner rather than later. I did contemplate buying new but decided i'd look second hand to save some money. A ktec Ultra exhaust + decat came up from @Russ Rallye and a few messages of enquires and i bought it. Its dented on the center secton but not seen once fitted. Plus i didnt really want slash cut tailpipes and these arent. I'd seen 2 others for sale and they was the same price but no center section, which i wanted. All paid for and it turned up a few days later.

41327795825_9734f98313_z.jpg

41327794125_852acd364a_z.jpg

I gave it a good clean with a drill, variuos wheels and metal polish. Came up pretty good. I used a scoth pad and degreaser for the pipes to remove some of the tarnish.

41327792855_5ce93b0d6b_z.jpg

41327791145_9bd6d61b3b_z.jpg

I managed to find a grey non sport climate control panel. The buttons were worn but my current ones were decent so i swapped the faces and buttons over.

I also ordered some Brass bushes for my BMS shifter from @Yanoo as i was told they was better than the standard ones. Stayed behind after work on friday and decided too fit the exhaust and bushes while the ramp was free.

41507056104_ec7b56c65f_z.jpg

You can see it was blowing here too. Needed changing for a while but there was no point until now really.

41507052634_69cb755632_z.jpg

It was a cheap made system which i've always known. Had to take a grinder to it as the center section was all one piece. Came off easy.

40421326980_25ba1936c6_z.jpg

Another crack. This is what caused it to have a horrible rattle at 2k.

41507050284_c550837742_z.jpg

And next to the replacement. I thought the old system was 2.25" but was actually a 2"! The ktec is 2.5" all the way through.

27357701787_2cee1186eb_z.jpg

While the system was off i fitted the brass bushes

Removed the old Lambda and fitted the new one

Retapped the exhaust mount holes

A few vids.

Start up

Reva and pull

And a quick drive by

With that all done i packed up and went home. Exhaust is nice. Has rasp and throaty sounds to it. You do get a resonating sound a 3k though. Looks good too.

The next day i went to work with the aim of fitting the brakes but i was curious to see what the Ktec would sound like with the cat in place. I still had my original so i took that to work.

28355835198_06d014d995_z.jpg

A quick mock up against the Ktec decat

42182445422_1d66f85181_z.jpg

And up against my old decat which i removed as the ktec system is sleeved, meaning this wouldn't have fitted.

28355828848_f013a3a24d_z.jpg

So after a measure up and knowing that it would fit, i decided to cut the old decat and use the material to weld ont my cat to make my own sleeved cat.

Then i got the chap at work who was painting hes own bumper to drive it for me while i got a few vids. The cat hangs down lower than the decat but they always do.

After all that and a quick bite to eat it was brake change time. Ignore the condition of the brakes, im going to repaint them at a later date

Took the wheels and coilover covers off to give them a wash. Bilsteins still looking decent.

I had ordered some stickers from N2Grafix as my other stickers are not coming yet due to the chap being busy. He did apologise to me so all is good. Picked these up for £8 off ebay in medium blue.

Seen as the wheels were clean i decided to fit the stickers.

Lasty to fisinsh off, i gave it a quick washa nd hoover and got some pics. I am actually thing of putting the decat back on as i think it sounds better. Luckily its on 2 bolts and a clamp. I will say i feel it feels quicker since fitting the exhaust so thats good, plus no more baging and rattling!
