FAO Fred and co. Moving battery to boot...

  Chocolate Bar™
just after a quick quote on how much people have paid for this / can expect to pay for this.

following my small bump, the airbox is smashed and the battery area shunted so decided while im getting it repaired to whip the new battery into the boot and then use an open induction kit in its place to kill two birds with one stone.

dont have a clue how much it'd be and dont want to harass yozzasport everyday on the phone lol

i wouldn't have thought it would have been too difficult, mount the batter in spare wheel hole, even stick 2 batterys in their for a power boost

you can ring me anytime

easy to do, you only have to run the 12V live through the car, a few circuit breakers, couple of connectors, a battery box job done

i think we might move ours to under/behind the passenger seat, i'd suggest using a race battery, as a normal road batt takes up a fair bit of space

sorry i must be behind the times. You gettin the 172 repaired then mate? Take it your not going through the insurance now and doing it yourself?

fully prepared for the insurance to write it off.

but the insurance have said that i can buy it back due to its rarity.

just had a pleasing provisional quote off cliospares to do all the body repairs and the such, but this is something that needs repairing so thought i may as well do it once and do it properly.

i was thinking of moving the battery to behind the passenger seat as the interior is coming out (selling it all) and just going for some monaco s type seats, and some carbon doorcards

so if anyone wants an interior ;)

group buy ;)

its just the perfect time to do it for me, due to the battery and airbox being smashed

with prices ;)

it'll be definetely coming across as theres some other work i want doing at the same time. cambelt change as it was winey, new fluids, cam cover leak sorted (i think lol) as theres oil collecting in the recesses behind the fuel rail cover, manifold matching if you do it, and the battery moving.

that'll be an expensive day lol

na, welding cable is equivilent to 4gauge and that takes whopping current

(you can use welding cable if you're feeling pikey)

we have a 110amp circuit breaker next to the battery and it never trips

cheers mate thats a big help^ To be honest prob just let fred do it as i'm having a load of other work done at the same time. Interesting to see the process though

anybody wanting a rough guide type in 'battery relocation' on the search and you will find my post with all the pics.

I had it done or was that I got done...hmm

As haitch said do it yourself or you could go to GDI and get charged hundreds of pounds.....

  Chocolate Bar™
under £100 in parts, and thats including race battery AND box

thats absolutly bargainous, a lot less than i was expecting. Just need to get the bloody car back now lol. Just out fo interest fred, what sort of air filter do u recommend to go with the battery relocation, just a plain old cheap open one? I've seen maxogens used, but dont really see the point in all honesty

Ha! That was the case.....

.... I can vouch that Yozzasport looks after your pride and joy like it was their own baby, the attention to detail was a refreshing change.

Eventhough I just said sort it - Yoz rang me up everytime something needed doing, or he had just finished a job and wanted to let me know etc.... He even sent me loads of photo's of progress made.

They even redesigned my engine bay by ripping out my aircon 'like requested' putting Cup bits in for the cambelt to work, and remodified by CNC the steering pump.... to list a small amount of work done.

My 172 is faster and as healthy [if not healthier] than my new/ish 05' CTR.

I was a very happy man when Yoz dropped for off! [and took me for a spin in it!] :)
