few q's on 182s

  57 Ibiza Formula Sport
I need a new car, not setting anything in stone but a 182 would and possibly could be on the cards. Just wanted to know a few things such as;

price of road tax?
insurance group?
how many miles per tank? at the moment i'm getting 300 miles a tank from my ford ka and thats around £30 worth
do all trophys not have xenons?
are trophys a higher insurance group?
a rough price of a racing blue/liquid yellow 05 aged?

Thankyou :)

cheers :) probably couldnt stretch to a trophy anyway but i do love them, didnt think they had xenons, big no then!

  Golf R32
Road Tax around the 210 mark
Standard 182 & Cup = 16 / Trophy = 17
Supposed to be around 34 Mpg but realistically mid to high 20's
No Trophys came with Xenons at all
See above
8.5 -9K

  Milltek'd 182
Road Tax around the 210 mark

Supposed to be around 34 Mpg but realistically mid to high 20's
No Trophys came with Xenons at all

cheers :) i know rough answers to most of the questions having driven a few sports but just wanted to make sure. the cruise control feature is a big reason for why id like a 182 cos i do a lot of driving, the mpg wouldnt be too big a difference from my ka cos that's apparently crap anyway

dan.. there was a liquid 182 on here for sale last week in blackpool, think it was 54 reg but it was still only £7,800! generally the racing blues are a bit more than the other colours but i wouldnt say a grand

Cars says 32-34 on mine with constant ragging, but when i worked it out it's just over 30.

on a motorway at contstant 70ish you should see 40mpg.

Liquid was ID paint hence the price difference from the rest iirc.

oops that's what i meant to write maz lol. yeah im aware liquid is the most expensive one, think i prefer racing blue over it though anyway.

JLO.. i dont personally like arctic blue although i know it's a really nice one, i'm not a blue person apart from racing!

if i was getting a 182, i'd seriously consider the inferno. hardly see any around and look fooking mint! racing blues are common as shite now ;)

knowsit sir :approve:

i nearly went back to cancel the order when i bought it as i was so unsure about the colour. For me all that was important was the desire to own a rare colour that doesnt get seen much on the road. Im glad i stuck with the Inferno as love the colour now... its great!

Make sure you view Inferno in all lights, looks stunning in the sun, but IMO nasty in some lights.

Edit - Fubar your pics with that setting make it look better than in real life ;)

stunning :approve: if i was following the ph1 172 to 182 brigade inferno would defo be first choice

lol. i think the pics represent exactly how it looks in brilliant sunshine.

Ive got another pic here somewhere actually with the "vivid" setting turned off...

no camera trickery, as the eye sees it in the sunshine :)

yeah i agree. im not keen on the inferno, seen quite a few in real life and they look a lot more orangey than fubars pics, fubars pics make it look more trophy red

If you could afford it, i think that a trophy would be best, esp as it will hold its value much better in the long run. If not why not go for a late FF172 save you a bit of cash?

Yellow's an acquired taste. I was unsure of it really, until I chatted to a bloke in the local pub yesterday who turned up in his yellow R26.

It was late evening, and with the fading light, I got to see all the shades of yellow on the curves of the Meggy.

Looked absolutely stunning. :approve:

I would never pay that sort of premium for the colour on say a 182 or Meggy from new. But a couple of hundred more when it's on the 2nd market? Most definitely.

Me personally, given the chance of another 182 - I'd kill for a petrol blue one. I have yet to see one of these on the road!

i would want xenons jamie so that's put me off. Don't want a car older than 2005 so that cuts 172's out, also the exhausts on the 182 are important. another question-

if i bought a 182 with a non-standard exhaust (the bigger pipes) would i definitely have to declare it to the insurance company? that'd be a mod i'd definitely want to do

yes, 100%

tbh im loving the note of the standard exhaust, was suprised how nice it sounds :)

Christ, my bad mate, didnt realise they were getting that cheap now.

Can see you in either liquid or racing blue anni, good call on those colours. And definately 182 full fat with both cup packs.

I think the only time the standard exhaust sounds good is with the back seat down and nothing in the boot. It's far too muted, imo.

Have you heard a standard 182 on a rolling road? I've never heard such a relatively powerful car sound so bloody weedy!

Yep, as others have said - you'd have to declare it on the insurance. Most take little notice unless it alters the performance of the engine itself.

yup i have, twice.

maybe mine's different from others then, because when i boot it its certainly not quiet!

Hole in the exhaust? ;) lol

Aye, imo induction roar sounds so much better than loud exhaust.

(which is why i have a silly loud exhaust and panel filter :S lol)

cheers dan :) racing blue i reckon would win it for me. i think titanium is nice too but not special enough and there's way too many silver cars in general on the roads! i've already had a yellow car so i'd fancy a change but the rareness is a big appeal on the liquid!
and yes... definitely definirely full fat with cup packs! i know my stuff now lol :)

I was asking about insurance cos im only 20 and wouldnt want changing the exhaust purely for appearance (im not too fussed on the sound, just think the bigger pipes look a lot better) to put my insurance up loads!

companies like Greenlight won't charge for the modifications, but you still have to declare them. they only insure over 21s though.
