First pics of my mk2 ph1 172

  Cooper S JCW
I went for a W reg on 35k with the belts replaced/Pi springs/longlife exhaust/new strut top mounts/new drivers side window motor/just serviced. Sold my Fiat Coupe 20v trubo on wednesday and picked this up on thursday. I have to say that I love the handling and it doesn't feel much slower than the coupe to 60mph!!! :)

  ex Clio 172 owner :(
Looks like a cracking example that mate, nice one.

My 53 has only 6k miles less than that too.

Never liked the normal mk1's but the mk1 172 looks proper cool somehow.

Carbon - just keeping it standard until after my wedding in June.....

....although I have just bought the Ktec catback system that was in the for sale section (Ssshhh! - don't tell the missus ;) )

I've done all of the swirl marks/scratches today with the electric polisher and it has come up a treat. It started to rain as soon as I finished though so sorry for the poor light in the pics. The exhaust still needs raising/rotating slightly but that is a job for next weekend!! :D

Yes dutty - and that is a sweet looking black machine you've got there - give us a hoot next time lad! :)

It still needs raising about 15-20mm - need to get hold of a metal block to raise the rubber mount. The wheels need a refurb too as the previous owner (girl!) left the brake dust on too long - is the wheel paint the same code as the car paint?!?

Dont ask Fubar this one he'll only tell ya to get some 172 exlusive wheels hes fanatical about 'em!

Oh sorry dont know the paint answer but he will! :rasp:

lol Dave....

no the wheel colour is different to titanium 647 paint. Not a bad idea getting them refurbed the same though.... :)

The left tail is 27mm down and the right one is 31mm down - just rotating the back section isn't going to raise it. Maybe I need a tighter hangar at the mid section too!

i remember speaking to you at Longlife when i had my old 1.2 16v.

we'll have to have an Grappenhall RS1 mini meet sometime, being around my car might make you itchy to mod it though. ;)

In that case don't come round until after my wedding in June because I can't afford any mods other than cleaning it!?!? ;)

Ph2 side strips with matching Anthracite badges and smoked repeaters. I quite like the ph1 172 rear lights but I'm on the fence about the rear bumper?!?

Engine bay almost complete now - Red plenum/red+polished fuel rail/Metallic black cover
Ice - got the HU + speakers ready to go but need correct wiring parts

Booked in at Blueflame to have the Ktec exhaust adjusted and extra bracket fitted if needed!

Sorry I didn't make the meet today but I've been busy.......I ended up doing the throttle body too!
.....I can't decide which fuel rail to use though - all red or half polished?!?

Anyone help me choose?

Looks good :) I think it looks best with the half polished fuel rail guard. Maybe do the renaultsport logo polished too?

Sound like your living my life Munchkin, I got a ph1 172 on a W plate with 35k last month and am also getting married next June.

Sweet looking car though, i love the ph1 172 so so much.
