fitting 6 disc changer 182

Ive got hold of a renault 6 disc changer, VDO. With mounting bracket already on. SO just needs screwing into floor under drivers seat and connecting up with the expensive £85 wire? as per this pic>

IS this right? do I just stick the wire from the changer to the headunit and the headunit will create the new menu as you flick through the sources on the steering remote?

is there only one space for the changer to plug into the back?

the vdo chnager already has a small grey wire coming out of it which is about 1 foot long with a round connector with a few pins in it, does this change the type of wire I need? Looking at the diagram whats the bit on the bottom left, "the grey male connector"

This is the wire on my VDO unit, so do I need a different wire to the one in the diagram?

Im suprised you managed to find this image.

Anyway the unit you have isnt the Clio one as such. It probably wont even work unfortunatly. Youll need an cable to plug into there and then into the back of the CD head unit and if its not in the pack you have only two options.

1) Sell the VDO unit and buy a cd changer+ cable off the forum etc.

2) Make your own wiring cable up. Ill send you the files on what each wire in the normal cd changer does but Renault dont make things easy, and not knowing what it does what in that cable wont be easy.

The £85 cable fits from the normal Renault cd changer to the back of the head unit and has a rectangular connector to plug into the CD changer and a squarish plug for the head unit.

unfortunately already purchased the wire believing it would connect where the green dot is on the bottom left of the diagram. As you say this is not the case.

Cant find my old car to get the rest of the wire, so basically stuck.

Will renault offer a refund for the £85 wire!!?

Sorry the drawing isnt relevent to this problem I thourght it might have been.

Renault should refund you the full price just say it doesnt work or something.

As for making it work I dont know Im cheap and wouldnt mess with a cable worth £85 Id prefere to make my own loom.

Ill send you the info on how the Cd changer cables work if you PM me your email address, but I fiddled with the cable myself when I got one which had been cut in half and it just didnt work very well.

as you say might not mess with it myself, looks like a poxy wire to me, how they can justify £85 is beyond me.

they did not give a refund for the wire, they are asking renault if they will accept it back then get back to me!

if they say now ive lost out.

anyone selling a FACTORY FIT 172/182 cd changercos they dont have the necessary wire?

came across this on ebay, look much more like what I need except the round end needs to be a female 8 pin... wonder if this will work ?

Unusual cable that it looks like it has the right connection to connect to your CD changer but the plug on the other end is the one which plus into the official Reanult CD changer. So I dont think it will fit.
