Fitting coil over's - advice plz.

Car  Sunflower & Golf Mk6 BMT
Hello,

Never attempted anyhing like this before, although i have done other things like servicing and brake pad change, so i'd like to have a go at fitting this my self, not least because my GF bought me some nice new tools.

Any who, i'd like some advice/ guide on how to fit them.

On inspection this is how i imadgine it to be done:

(ph1 172)

On rear:

Undo top shock bolts, jack up and remove lower bolts on rear beam, springs drop out, replace with new springs and reverse the method.

On front:

undo top mount, jack up, undo x2 bolts on the hub holding the shocker, pull the old shockers/springs out, fit new coil overs and reverse the method.

Does that all sound right? any further dvice? does it need two people?

thank in advance.

you will need to transfer the tops from the old front struts to the new struts.

so u will need some spring compressors.

otherwise its an easy job. its hard to go wrong!!

I think your wrong there? I heard you dont need spring compressers? as the springs are not under compression?

when you say tranferr the top bits, which 'bits' are hose?

Thanks

Its not impossible to go wrong though there always somone out there to prove its not impossible get right.

maybe the old mk1 172's are different.

as you can see i used spring compressors, as it makes the job easier, and is far safer. You undo the top nut whilst its under compression!!!
