Forza 3

  BMW M4; S1000 RR
I always thought the sound was one of the best features of FM2...ok some cars might not be spot on but most sound awesome....that datsun above sounds amazing hitting the limiter and the vid of the aston race car was pretty much perfect imo..especially when comparing to certain other race games lol

Chris

maybe it's just me then. I though F2 sounds were terrible. Nothing like the cars they represented. F3 sounds a little better. But a race exhaust makes little to no difference to the noise for some reason. A Lambo LP640 with a straight through exhaust should be the only thing you can hear in a race, but tyre sounds are still louder.

I'm fussy though. It's still a great game.

Get yourself a 120Gb HDD off Ebay for 39.99 mate. I ordered one (they're from China) and was sceptical but it's an official MS one :approve:

I can do everything but guarantee it's not a genuine hdd. In china they make their own (which is exactly what you can do. If you're willing to use your old 20gb hdd as a donor shell you can make a 120gb for less than £30.
Does that mean the CW DC5 will have silver wheels again? Better not do or I may refuse to play the game ;)
I haven't got one but you can't paint wheels white. They come out silver.

+1, the sounds on FM2 were immense and they're even better on the FM3 demo... maybe he's just got the sound coming out through the TV? On a proper surround sound it's fantastic.
I haven't got Dolby digital at the moment so perhaps that makes a difference. But I used to use my 800w ac3 hifi on F2 and what I wrote above is what I thought.

Tv speakers shouldn't be an excuse. If I hook my dv camera up to my TV with some trackday or rally footage a Ferrari still sounds like a ferrari. A lambo like a lambo. Why can't game developers get it right in this day and age?

I thought they'd done a pretty good job from what I've heard so far, like the mustang clip I posted. It's certainly a far cry from the kenwood foodmixers with a SC attached that all cars sound like on GT.

It's a weird one.

When you hear them from replay cameras, they do sound pretty good. I did a short clip of a Carrera GT doing a 200mph flyby on the Mulsanne version of Le Mans.

But in car, and when racing, supercars sound quite lame (in my opinion). PGR4 is still the daddy of sound effects. I mean no backfiring from a 900bhp V10?? Come on..

I've added you on XBL btw.

I think I know what you mean. Although the tone/characteristics are there it's not quite as viceral as you'd want?

I'm hoping the next Forza is developed for whatever the new platform is and they have more time. Forza 3 has been very well reviewed and it would be nice for things like pops bangs and flames from exhausts to be added, white wheels, shift animations (although tbh I'm no fan either way as they're always too slow to react) day and night racing.

Weather I'd like to see providing they get it right, I was no fan of GT4's rain, nor weather effects (other than the lighting) on PGR4 because as usual it simply felt like wet = turn the max grip slider down on the physics engine.

The car models need doing again, the newer stuff looks alot better than the cars carried over from Forza 2. Whether this is down to inaccurate source material or the actual modelling of the car in game I'm not sure but it needs sorting, some more so than others.

There's a list of numerous other things I'd like to see changed/improved which will have been dictated by processing power and developement time tbh.

Order placed at Blockbuster... Order also placed at Game for the midnight release. So I might just buy it from there so I don't have to worry about receiving it late and just get a refund on my copy from BB.

1990 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z

Car of the Day 10.15.2009

This trip down memory lane is strewn with potholes and ruts. The 1990 model year was the last to see the IROC-Z moniker. It was also the year “Dances With Wolves” dominated the Oscars, “The Simpsons” debuted, Saddam invaded and Hubble deployed. Windows 3.0 dropped, GM’s Saturn division was born and at the Grammy’s M.C. Hammer couldn’t be touched and Mariah Carey was awarded best new artist honors. Out on the roads of America the third-generation Chevy Camaro represented with the sporty IROC-Z topping the charts. The car was named after the International Race Of Champions, a series of races that pitted champions from all types of motorsports from around the world in equally prepared cars. The series was founded in 1972 and Camaros were the weapon of choice from ’75 to ’80 and ’84 to ’89. The latter being the glory years of the series when it ran the third-generation Camaro. Each car was painted a different color with the driver’s name emblazoned on the side so fans could better track the progress of their favorite drivers.
The production IROC-Z debuted in ’85 and reached the zenith of its evolution in the ’90 model year. The ’90 version, as offered in FM3, features a L98 350 cubic-inch V8 rated at 245 horsepower, standard LSD and unique IROC-Z badging. FM3 provides fertile ground for third-gen fans as there are numerous tuning schemes that can really zap some life into the L98 and hook up the Camaro’s aged underpinnings.

Could be a good idea.

I love the new quick upgrade option which lets you quickly optimize your car for a certain car class, saves loads of time having to find the best combo yourself.

I like the fact that you hardly ever need to spend money. I'm on class A races now, I've got 750k in the bank. The only car I've paid for is my Class A Z06 which was about 80k incuding optimization. You get given a car for levelling up each time and most of the time the car is perfect for the next race so no need to buy one.

Just had a 600 Z06 vs a 590 Z06 as first and second in a race. We were bumper to bumper for the first 4 of 5 laps. Managed to get him on a straight.

You're right Si (make a car with a lower PI) but that could take longer lol. I am shitting on every AI race now it's basically like hot lap races. Got quite a few #1 leaderboard times already lol.

It looks Genuine, has all the correct MS holograms on and the 120GB extching is on the top. Even if it's not then I'm happy with it :approve:

A few people are starting to feel the weight of the banhammer on their accounts :D

Was just about to say the same thing, whoever said they are getting leaderboard times must be online...look forward to a ban...

mine was banned ages ago, but anyway, here are some pics. HD projector FTW! :D

Account or Xbox? Those pictures look stunning. I got a 40" 1080p with 5.1 which is pretty nice but that looks even better. The pic of the fiat 500 looks nearly real

Yep, not disputing that it won't work as I bought a similar one from the USA, I knew it wouldn't be genuine because genuine ones sell for £70 on ebay new. As you describe, it looks pukka, but I bet if I rang MS with the serial number on it, they'd tell me to throw it away.

Hi.

I'll let you know :) If I get one, I'll deserve it, but I don't think I will personally.

But that email (whoever received it) won't have been for Forza3. And pre-release play refers to a review/illegitimate copy of the game.

that image was recieved by someone playing forza 3 online....... Its an account ban and not a console ban for now though.
