Been down to see the GFs family (near Bath) this weekend and we took the RT as its got f*ck all miles on the clock (96 P-Reg @ 24k miles), plus is better on fuel than the other 2 cars...

Managed to get an amazing average of 44mpg over a 460 mile round trip and I was not driving economically either!!!

Basically just zipping down the motorway at about 80-90mph all the way and it used b*gger all fuel.

Winner! :D

What sort of mpg are other RT peeps getting?!

Mines a 95 1.4RT with 78k on the clock.

Went to Swansea and back last week, round trip of around 500 miles and managed to get just over 300 mile out of a tank. Average city driving itll do 230-250 out of a tank, dunno what it works out as!!!

im jealous. Want that sort of economy on my 16v.

It spends half its life on a petrol station forecourt. Well it feels like that.

240 mile out of £18 is very good though!!! Mine takes £29 to fill and like I said around 250 miles out of it if your lucky!

i can fill with about £28 quid (no more like £35 the way these prices are fixed - 77.9 the cheapest i found yest!!!) and get about 280 miles out of it.

Yup, I am amazed at how good it is!

Wish my 306 was that good...

I only got 32mpg out of it the other weekend on a similar long trip down south, Even though I was driving gently and just cruising at about 80mph most of the time.

Normally get about 28mpg driving to work and worse if I gun it.
In the Autocar roadtest, they managed to get it down to 10.4mpg!!!

The R5 is just as bad too.

WHAT? £28? I can fill up for £22 and thats on a virtually empty tank (just before the light comes on) But usually under £20. I worked out what mine does, doing a variance of driving styles and different types of roads. Over the entire fuel tank it averaged at 48.5 miles per gallon. And thats with a lot of moterway driving. And renault say keep it under 3k revs and its economical, but moterway driving (at 70mph) is about 3.3k, but who does 70?

What year is your RT DTWD? Mines a 95 and when it takes £28 itll have been on the red light for a while, usual about 20 mile so almost completly empty! I filled her up this morning and it was £29! Petrol is 75.9 as well were I live.

Its a 91 J reg. Its 76.9 here i think. Maybe yours has a bigger tank.

Does anyone have the problem of the fuel gauge just taking a random guess at the fuel level? It seems to go through it really quickly and then sit at a 1/4 level for ages. Then after a bit of sitting there, maybe a few days, its starts dropping again. Then I fill her up just above the bottom line.
