Gear change light on 172 Cup?

  Citroen DS3 DSport
For some reason I didn't think a 2002 172 had this indicator but I've seen it light up once or twice while driving the car hard so I must have this afterall.

Now admittedly the way I've been driving recently I haven't dared take my eyes off the road, but I really haven't noticed a gear change light.

This is the exact reason I never noticed mine for a few weeks. The last thing you wanna be doing in a Cup (if you're not used to one) is flooring it and looking at the dials, especially when your previous car was a 1.3.

It's in the bottom right hand corner of the dials and it signifies 'optimum gear change', and I must say it makes a lot of difference if you change when it comes on, you seem to pull quicker in the next gear. Excellent feature.

I'll have to take more notice of this in future, by the time it lit up (or I'd noticed) I was already bouncing off of the limiter :(

Aye when i first got my cup i kept looking for it, problem is when you hit the limiter in 2nd you're usually holding on for dear life and trying to concentrate on keeping the car on the road. lol.

you can usually hear when it needs a new cog lol, i reckon the shift light should have been in the middle of the two dials (where the stop service lights are), can't miss it then

Yep seen it! After booting it and nearly torque steering into a parked corsa last night, I finally saw it. God this car is so much fun! Had a Series 1 Escort RS Turbo and that wasn't nearly as much of a giggle as this little thing.
Only thing I'm worried about is that it's french and my old 106 rallye used to blow head gaskets like nobody's business. Cup's are pretty reliable aren't they?????

Now, call me Mr f**king Picky but we are talking about a gear change LED that warns you you're approaching the rev limiter. So did you really need to cain it on a public road or could you have simply sat in in a car park and revved the engine in a contolled enivronment?

In some RS Clios the light doesn't work I've drivene a few 182's and 182 with no working light its no use anyway as its just a warning 300rpm with a +-50rpm tolerance for hitting the redline.
