Going from megane R26 megane to clio197

I went from a 182 to an r26 megane and now going to test drive a nimbus 197 tomorrow. I originally sold the r26 and started sharing a 1.2 with my girlfriend. getting bored of a 1.2 now. I was considering an astra Vxr nurburgring edition to go back to turbo charged but the gearboxes aren't great and could get pricey if it has problems.


So, I've decided to test drive this nimbus 197. It's at a Renault garage and comes with a years warrenty.

Just looking to see who's gone from an r26 to a 197 and what they thought of the two cars. not making a direct jump and I've been driving a 1.2 for 3 months now.

My only gripe with the 197 is the mpg... In my head as its slower than an r26 it should be cheaper on the juice.
Sadly not the case

Mk3 Clio Renaultsports are shocking on fuel. Lack of low-down grunt coupled with hooooooge ratios on the early 197's really hurt it.

I'll let you know if the 200's any better next month. Lol.

Daves Nimbus will be better than the dealer one-

Only issues on the 197 really are some minors- & the gearbox issue- although if you deal with RUK in the right manner it wont cost a lot

It's 2 miles from my house so I'm going to test drive it and see how I get on. Only has cup spoiler. Black alloys and no recaros hmm..

I covered over a week of commuting 242 miles, and it took 25.55 litres to brim my tank again.

= 43.06 mpg
