Loom and manifold


il admit, the loom and the manifold are 106 GTi/VTS (as thats what they have come off) and the map on the DTA is for a cammed itb'd VTS, so if i choose to fit them il need a few new bits, but for the price i paid im not complaining!

Nice one dude, easy to pick up a fannimold from jenvey for a couple of hundred if you cant find second hand. After that wee bit of bodging and come cable ties and you'll have a good'un

Silly question as iv not done much work with bodies, if 40mm will strangle a 2.0, if a std tb is 63mm, how is 40mm x 4 =160mm going to strangle it?

Genuine question here, not meant sarcastically :)

The minimum cross sectional area is in each runner of the port (past the divider). This is ultimately what limits peak power ability. This on a standard head is smaller than a 40mm throttle.

40mm throttles arent overly small on the scheme of things, they will likely make more torque lower down the rpm range. My mate has 37mm throttles on his Mi16, i'll try and get some dyno figures.

Fantastic Stan, that would be great if you could, im tempted to stick them on and see what its like, but il weigh everything up first

My reasoning is as the overall inlet of air will be nearly 1.5 times more than the standard single tb from a rough working out, is that correct?

Again, im not overly bothered as im tempted to sell them on, as it would make a plug in and play option for a 106 GTi/VTS

mi16 inlet port is 40mm and round though, as are the runners on the stock Mi16 inlet manifold. Different engine.

40s on an F4R wouldn probably still give gains as you say, just not optimal. Seen ITBs on an F4R that are too small and it hold back the top end significantly. Still makes power, but with a very flat feeling

Chadil do a DCOE manifold for the F4R. Quality is pretty questionable with most chadil stuff though. That looks like a chadil manifold you have with the bodies

Thats what iv heard Danny, have you ran an itb'd car? Im just wondering on the differences between them. I have a really good mapper

not run one of my own. That's the next stage ;)

Fitted many sets, and maintained the cars too. Bex ITB'd 172 for instance does much better than standard MPG, and has done 204bhp on different dynos.

Who's the mapper?

A chap who is local to me, does Unitchips mostly and has customers from all over the UK, in fact he had a chap bring his E30 M3 over from Holland for him to map it
